sorry to inform you but there are no drivers available for this machine if you have downgraded to windows xp. HP are quite clear on this matter...no support for windows xp on machines that were shipped with windows vista

I cant install the ethernet driver on my compaq presario sr1050nx
go to 'support' at www.hp.com and look for dirvers for your model. There should be a driver for the 10/100 tbase ethernet device. Download and install it and reboot. Should fix the problem if the ethernet adapter is working.
