SOURCE: hotpoint self cleaning oven

1.get pet birds out of house.
2.take racks out of oven
3.slide door latch over if you have one(door should be locked)
4.push clean on control
5.set hours by pushing the arrows.i would set it for 2 hours
6.when finished let it cool down when it is cool enough the door will unlock or you can push the door latch back.at this point you will have a gray ash on everything, just wipe with paper towel.
7.be pround and smile at your clean oven.
8.oh don't forget to bring your birds in if you brought them out,the reason you have to bring them out is because the fumes are toxic to birds, but not to humans.
hope this helped

SOURCE: Hotpoint gas oven won't keep its temperature. I

The temperature sensor in the oven needs replacing. It is located in the back wall of the oven. About 3 inches long, metal and about the size of a thin pencil.

SOURCE: I have a GE profile gas oven model number

Hello Alfacendo. Your gas oven and broiler are designed to light and remain lit until a set temperature is reached and then shut off for a time, then fire up again until that temperature is reached and then shut off for a time, etc. etc. etc.

That said, it appears that your oven and broiler shut off when temperature is reached but then they do not automatically turn back on again and again as they should.

With your oven's digitally controlled system, there's no need for a mechanical gas valve. Instead, the digital circuitry sends the signal straight to the safety valve. Then, if the electric igniter is working properly, the safety valve opens and sends the gas to the burner, and the hot igniter ignites it. The digital system uses a small electronic sensor inside the oven to sense the temperature. When the set temperature is reached, the circuitry sends a signal to turn the safety valve off, which stops the flow of gas. When the oven temperature cools slightly, the sensor again sends a signal to the circuit board, which re-lights the burner.

In your oven, most likely that small electronic sensor has gone bad and must be replaced.

Go to this site http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/317B6641?pathTaken=partSearch&prst=0&shdMod=317B6641

Then enter the model number of your oven taking it directly from the sticker on the oven itself. THe number you are stating in your question is not the full model number, please check it before you go to the searspartsdirect website. Joe

Thanks for choosing Fixya!

Electric ge hotpoint 317b6641p001

The burner is just a plug in unit. Take off the plate on the top and lift up on the opposite side for the burner from where it is plugged in. Give it a pull and it will come out just fine and plug the new one in.

Where can I get a description of a white and gray hotpoint gas stove serial # 317B6641p001

First why do you need a description? If you have a fault you need to define it.Try doing a google search or put a question for a picture up on gumtree.

Which switch do you have? Why do you need a diagram. Would you not just change over the wired the way you found them in the first place. Take a photo before you begin to work.

I have a GE Hotpoint stove/range model num 317B6641P001 that the oven will not ignite nor will the igniter turn on.

It sounds like the ignitor is bad...you will not or should not smell gas if ignitor is bad...gas valve is not supposed to open until the sensor by the ignitor has reached a certain temp. It's a safety feature. If you replace the ignitor, it should work like normal.

Oven does not heat. Broiler and stove work. NO gas smell.

could be the oven thermostat, get a plumber/heating engineer out, but make sure you can trust him, cause he could try and say u need a new cooker when it MIGHT only be a new oven thermostat.
