Pfaff quilt expression 4 0

I have been trying to sew but the thread will not feed nor will the fabric move. I have used both the contraption that is attached to help feed the material smoothly and this doesn't help. Thread keeps on jamming under needle plate. I checked all, have cleaned machine, changed threads, re threaded and changed needles but to no avail. Lease help me as I live in Hong Kong and do not know of a Pfaff dealer here.

Not sure what the problem is but you might try this:

Remove the top thread completely from the machine.
Make sure the machine is cleaned under the needle plate, the hook/bobbin area, the feed dogs, etc.
If your manual instructs oiling, do so as described.
Confirm that the feed dogs are in the raised position.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot then rethread the top thread from the beginning.
Verify the thread path is correct.
Confirm the needle is installed correctly (does the flat part face the right direction?). Is it the right needle for your machine.
Set the top tension to the midway point.
Check that the stitch length is set to at least #2.
Re-test your machine. Tweak the top tension until the top and bobbin threads meet in the middle of the fabric.

Some machines have a presser foot pressure adjustment that increases or decreases the amount of pressure the presser foot applies to the fabric and the feed dogs. You may need to increase this pressure.

SOURCE: pfaff sewing machine

You don't have the thread in the take up lever or it is not in the tension. Rethread it , Pull the thread through the tension assembly and test it to make sure the tension is working correctly.
(To do this test, adjust your tension setting to normal or medium or 5 or something in the middle. Raise the presser foot and pull the thread through the tension. It should pull easily!! Lower the presser foot and pull the thread. It should pull noticeably harder.) If it passes this test, continue up through the take up lever, then down through the thread guides to the needle. Make sure your needle is fully inserted and turned the correct way.
set your tension to 5 and try it.

SOURCE: Not picking up the Bobbin thread

I cleaned the machine good with canned air, oiled it. I took out the bobbin case and cleaned it good also. I then noticed the tension screw on the bobbin case was loose, tightened it and the problem was fixed.

SOURCE: Using Pfaff 130 to sew leather, needle won't pick

This machine really isnt quite designed for leather. What has happened is your hook to needle timing is out.

When you sew through thick materials, a lot of machines have issues where the needle sticks in the fabric but all the internal parts shift and this causes the hook to needle timing to go out. The begging signs of this is skipping stitches. You will have to have you local independent sewing store do this adjustment for you

Hope that helps,
Chris

What number is satin stitch on Piaf quilt expressions 4.0

A satin stitch is simply a zig-zag stitch that is shortened enough so the threads lay next to each other without laying over another but also without any space (fabric) showing between. Keep in mind that the thread weight will cause the satin stitch to differ.

I have a Pfaff hobby 1200. When I try to quilt ( it is on an Inspira frame) it sews fine on the top but the bottom side is all loopy. What are the correct tension #'s I can use? I use cotton thread.

It could be a variety of things. Be sure you are using a brand new sharp needle (try a topstitch, embroidery, or microtex needle on woven cotton). Be sure the needle eye is large enough to accommodate the thread weight. Different needles have a different scarf (the groove that is on the back of the needle that runs up from the needle eye). A larger scarf will protect the thread and keep the thread from hanging up on the fabric when the needle is withdrawn from the fabric.

Also, the upper tension may be too loose if it is still showing loops under the fabric.

Another cause is the fabric being stretched too tight on the frame causing trampolining.

Can the presser foot be raised slightly on pfaff tiptronic 2030 to facilitate free motion quilting? There is not enough clearance with feed dogs down to freely move material to quilt. Thank you.

You need a special foot for free motion quilting--it is slightly shorter in height than a regular presser foot, which essentially provides space between the presser foot and the needle plate to manually move the fabric. Sometimes machines came with a standard darning foot accessory. Your Pfaff dealer probably has at least one style in stock. But there are other specialty feet you can probably use, ie Big Foot, clear free motion foot, C-shaped, oval, etc. You can also purchase a shank adapter (verify it is the correct shank for your machine) and use it with a kit of snap-on presser feet so you can have a variety of presser feet for different functions.

I have a Pfaff 4.2 Quilt Expression. I am free motion quilting and the bobbin thread keeps hanging up. Any suggestions?

1. The top loading bobbin cases have small brackets to keep them from turning or moving up or down.
2. Adjust brackets with small screwdriver. Allow enough room for thread to flow through.
3. Rotate hand wheel both directions to make sure the bobbin case doesn't move around. Also, watch the thread to see if it is flowing across the top of the bobbin case.
4. You may need to slow down movement of your "free motion". Also, make sure you are using the right pressure foot.

1. the needle thread is not threaded properly

2. The needle thread tension is to tight

3. The needle is bent or blunt

4. The needle is incorrectly inserted

5. The needle thread & the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting to sew

6. the threads were not drawn to the rear after sewing

7. The thread is either to heavy or to fine for the needle

8. Try a different spool or cone of thread
