Digital Lines in my photos

Hi I have just encontered a promblem in my Nikon Coolpix 8700, It is a 3 year old camera and have been using it very regularly without any problem. 2 days ago I just grabbed it to snap some shots as usuall and the result was very worrying, as I previewed the image in the LCD or viewfinder  a lot of yellow / blu thicj lines appeared horizontally, I tried changeing the settings and even reset the camer, but nothing. I even changed the card but still... when I downloaded the images to my pc as I thought it was the LCD (which shouldn't as the lines appear only on playback mode). when viiwing the photos on my PC the thick yellow/ blue lines look very faint and thin white  lines.

As i kept experimenting I found out that this problem only appears when taking wide  angle photos when I zoom in  the problem does not happen any more, so I guess it is a lens problem.

can somebody please help.

My Nikon Coolpix camera has been working fine for many years but today the auto focus and shutter release buttons will not function. The viewfinder is working as is the metering which you can see chan

This is a Guess. If the battery is very old the voltage may be so low that only a few things work correct. See if you can charge it. Auto Focus uses a Motor (takes some power) Taking a photo takes quite a bit of power..

When i take a photo appear broken with lines...

Hi,

When you view the images on a computer screen, do the lines show up then ?
Try printing some photos off and examining them again as well.
It may be some of the pixels in the LCD screen have gone bad, or it may be that your sensor is quitting.

I'm using my Nikon coolpix 8700 to take photos of museum objects so the photos need to be of a fairly high standard, but the photos are coming out just slightly out of focus. Where am I going wrong? Thanks

If these are close up photos, the depth of field will be shallow. You need to raise the ISO to force the camera to close down the aperture and increase the depth of field. Also, the use of a tripod or monopod will greatly increase your chances of taking a sharp picture.

All of my photos have horizontal

Sounds like the sensor or stabilization circuit may be going bad and it may not be worth the cost of a repair. If the camera is less than a year old send it to Nikon for repair along with the sales receipt. if more than a year old; do you want to put more than $150 into it?

Horizontal lines on image

This is not a solution , but only a work around. If you do at least 1/3 zoom on your lens before clicking a photo, these lines will not appear. But this not not a convenient way I agree.
Also this surely means that the CCD is not the problem otherwise it would have never worked ( electronic parts cant simply dont start to work when you zoom ringht ? ). Surely Nikon is fixing the issue, but cheating the customers by charging for a part is not defective in the first place
