  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

DO you mean the timer portion wont shut off the oven? Or the gas stays on and keeps on heating? Or what exactly wont shut off and how are you trying to get it to shut off?

I would simply push the buttons finding the mode where the hours flash. At this point the hours can be set and I would experiment til I found the correct button and sequence to make them advance the hours then go to the minutes and do the same thing.

DId this answer your question about setting the timer? Or have I misunderstood your post?

Oven will shut on and off constantly

Sometimes the hot surface ignitors are fine, but they do not have enough draw to start the gas valve. If the oven doesn't light I would replace those first

My stove does not get hot enough

your oven/stove thermo-couple has gone bad and senses too much heat too soon before its actually hot and shuts off the gas supply,it is located inside the oven cavity in a clip on the top of the oven cavity and is normally replaced with the oven control dial as a calibrated unit

Oven working no gas to range

Check to make sure that you are getting gas to the unit itself. If you are getting gas to the unit from the shut off valve. Then your problem would be the gas valve will need to be replaced. This is the only thing that would not let the gas flow to the unit itsef

Brand new gas range

i would look into the valve/regulater at which you connected the gas line, off to the side or somewhere on the regulater itself there should be a shut off for the oven control, simply flick to open positon and you should start right up. it would shut off gas to oven but allow burners to light.

Ge gas oven with electronic ignition

yea sounds like you have a bad oven ignitor, tell tale signs are not heating past warm, smells gas, too long to cook, popping noises while cooking. Id replace that ignitor. Although it might appear to "glow" not glowing strong enough
