Car dies like the alternator is not working. Changed alternator still same problem

test the alternator it may be bad. but it could be something simple as a wire did not get hooked back up correctly. and then there is the other option you didn't disconnect the battery before working on the electrical system and shorted something out. check your ground wires and the plugs for the alternator and anything else you worked on. my neighbor worked on his Honda and it had three bad alternators and he had to go with the orginal expensive alternator to make it run again.

load test the battery. Test the alternator with a multimeter, it should read between 13.3 and 14.6 volts dc. Test the alternator at idle and rev the engine to 2000 rpm. The multimeter probes are place on the battery terminals. Look for corrosion between the battery and the battery clamps. Baking soda cleans the corrosion.

Battery light on ! alternator isn't charging . Test the alternator electrical circuits .Main cable on the back of the alt. should have B+ voltage .Pin # 3 at the connector on the alt. should have B + voltage - fuse F10 10amp under hood fuse box supply's B+ to pin #3 . Pin's 1 & 2 at the connector go to the PCM - engine computer . This is a computer controlled charging system .

Use a bottle of yellow HEET dry gas to remove any moisture problem in the fuel.

Clean / replace air filter.

Top off ATF to MAX level.

The battery most likely has dead cells and not charging due to the alternator .The alternator is doing what it should, your battery just can't hold the charge the alternator is putting out. Go have the battery tested at a local auto zone or advance auto store. Free to check

13.5 volts is not an unreasonable voltage. How do you know it's not taking a charge with the new alternator and new battery? I might have it checked at the battery retailer using their starting/charging testing machine.

You may have received a faulty alternator from the store. I have bought alternators from AutoZone before and in one instance had to take it back 3 times before I got one that worked correctly. Also, you should not have jumped the car, you should have started it up on battery and alternator. That would have told you if the battery was drained or the alternator you had just put in was bad. If you put the drained battery back in the car to run it, the car would have died anyway. Whenever I have changed an alternator out I always let it run in the driveway for awhile to make sure that both the battery and alternator are functioning correctly.

ok start the car and unhook the positive cable from the battery if it dies the alternator is still defective i have gotten brand new ones that didnt work if this doesnt work you might have a short
