Do headphones work with or without speakers attached? does unit light up? Check fuses. If breaker pops, or replacement fuse blows, it needs repair.

SOURCE: No surround sound

Hi,

As you already checked the speakers, the HK manual says to check if the audio analog chain is fine. That means selecting 6/8 direct channels as source and apply a sound source for each channel. You can use a CD and test each pair of the 6/8 inputs at a time or use the output from a PC sound card with a test generator software (some excellent free software available as from NCH swift). Adjust the volume and listen. I guess you will obtain sound from the right front channel.
If you have sound in all speakers at the end of the test it means all audio channels are fine end to end.
The good news according to HK manual is that you eliminated 90% of the component of the system. The bad news is the problem is in the DSP section. There are no instructions or tests for the DSP part so you will have to go to the service center.

Goodluck..

SOURCE: OSD not working (black screen)

Your 635 will not display the OSD screen through component. You must use either s-video or rca. It won't upconvert the screen menu this route.
I had one up until a week ago. There are two outputs on the back specifically for the OSD screen. I used a separate old 13" TV with s-video to do my setups. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: I cant get any sound out of my Harman kardon AVR

Hi! The rca output may be faulty causing it not to give sound to the speakers. If that will be the problem then you will have to have it replaced for it to work again. Hope this helps and have a good one!

Cant get klipsch sub woofer to work. do is there a menu setting through receiver to do this?

What model is the sub? Is your Klipsch sub powered? If it's already plugged in and powered on make sure you have the RCA cable going to the correct LFE output on the Denon and have it set to 5.1.

Denon AVR 1804

You need to get the manual and do some reading first. I couldn't find the AVR-1804 but the AVR-1803 is avaiable. It should be close enough to get you through connection and setup.

Register with retrevo.com and download it for free.

Speakers way too loud

You don't say how the Samsung routes out to the receiver. I assume you're using its RCA audio L and R jacks. Inability to adequately lower volume usually means you're NOT using a Line Level input, but maybe a speaker feed.

Your TV may have a setting for variable audio out, but even if you use the fixed setting you should be able to lower the playback volume to something comfortable with the receiver's volume knob. It does go down to completely OFF, right?

DVD player and receiver will not play a dvd in surround sound ?

The dvd player is responsible for reading the surround sound track, and sending it to the receiver. First make sure you are playing the surround sound track on the dvd, many have a stereo track too. Next, try another dvd and see if you can play surround sound on that one. If you can't play surround on ANY dvd I would start looking at the audio connection from dvd to receiver. Are you using an optical cable? Red, white, and yellow RCA cables? Optical will transmit any sound over only one cable, RCA cables need one cable for each channel (LF, C, RF, LR, RR, sub.) If your connections are correct, is the receiver set to play a surround sound track? Is it set in 2 channel mode?

Creating a surround sound system

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand should work more than OK. Even if the 520 is only pushing 75watts per channel, you have 2 X for the front KSB-2.1 (left & right) plus another 75 for the Polk Audio center in addition to 250watts built-in amp of the Velodyne CT-150. What would be better is another pair of KSB-2.1 or comparable for the surround (another 2 X 75 and widening the separation).

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.
