Using a Lexar Memory Stick PRO Duo 8GB and the Sony Steady Shot tells me to "reinsert memory card" whenever I turn it on.
The DSC-H2 works with Memory Stick Duos, not with Memory Stick PRO Duos.
Good to know =) Do you know if it has to be below an 8GB if the memory stick is a Duo instead of a PRO Duo? Do the GB's matter then? TIA.
As far as I'm aware, Memory Stick Duos only go to 128MB (that 1/8 of a GB). Seehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_Stic...

Well alot of the time there is a issue with the formating that the camera does on the stick and also when formating it on the computer it formats it another way as well. some in FAT and some in FAT32 this is ushally a error for the most part I would definatly plug your duo stick into a card reader and then go to my computer and the find the drive that the stick is in and right click on it and go to properties and do a error check on the stick to make sure that there is no errors. and if you can defragment after the scan then by all means do it and then format the card and try it and hopefully it will work out to your advantage.
*note this problem seems to only happen with the non branded duo sticks not the sony branded ones.*

If you tried replacing the memory card, removing batteries, and cleaning the contacts already, then it means the memory card socket contacts inside the camera are defective.
Usually this is caused by a bad connector or a bad cold joint on the memory card slot wirings, or on the small pcb board inside the camera.
To fix the problem the camera must be taken apart, the wirings to memory card slot tested for continuity, and the lose contact re-soldered.
If the camera is less than one year old, or still under guaranty, the repair will be covered in complete.
Ask a quote for this job at any repair shop, or call the number listed on the owner manual to get service.

Yes, a Memory Stick Pro Duo is the right card for this camera. The manufacturer shouldn't matter.
SOURCE: Will DSC-T1 accept a MARK 2 memory stick?
NO, DSC-T1 will not accept such big memory card as its hardware supports maximum 2GB card memory that is more then enough for it because its 6 mega pixel camera.

This camera support only up to 1GB of memory stick so sorry to say the 8GB wont be read by this camera of yours.
