Is this a problem?

I recently got myself a new PC which includes an Acer AL1716 monitor.I think its a brilliant monitor in terms of performance and the price. But being a perfectionist I am easily irritated even by the slightest of glitches.Well, a few days ago my computer hung while trying to run a game with extremely heavy graphics due to which I had to manually turn it off.On restarting I let Windows  check the file system for errors and it found none. Now I have started noticing a black vertical line at the right border of my monitor.Well I'm sure most people won't notice it because it is quite narrow(less than a cm maybe). But there is a similar line on the left side that is slightly thinner.Adjusting the settings has not helped.I'm not even sure if this line was there before I manually restarted the computer. But its bothering me! I hope there is nothing wrong with my monitor. Please reply.

Hi Viv,

Hope this will give you hints. If you haven't noticed first day you bought and used it with this negligible glitches you mentioned. There are factors to test and consider; try adjusting resolution frequencies (lower to higher) select Apply settings if you noticed been good; color/scheme modes of your video card driver/application software. I have met this kind of problem by fine tuning the video card settings and even replacing the video card not common it monitor problem. However if you noticed and doubtful even, get a change to dropby to the store you bought it let them check the unit. If the output still considerable, you still can use and we'll wait and see if it getting worse before the warranty period.

Best regards,
Rosener

I used to use viewsonic 17inch monitor and the color was perfect. Recently i change to acer AL1716, but there is no red color. How to fix the color setting problem? thanks

Generally, this is due to a loose or bad cable. Unplug, and replug your video cable one both sides. If that doesn't work, then use a different cable. If that doesn't work, contact Acer to see about a warranty replacement.

Will an Acer AL1716 monitor work with a Dell 4600? Do I need a monitor card?

It has video card already, just make sure the video card driver is correct. Mkae sure to set the PC video resolution to the native resolution of this Acer, which is 1280 x 1024 @60Hz.

Hi, My Acer AL1716 monitor has stopped working and the light on it just keeps flashing. I have put a new power cable on it but still the same problem. I have plugged it into another PC and it still is not...

More likely to have capacitors failure in the power supply section, that will be the first place to check, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside when you open it up so we can guide you further.
