If your TV has no HDMI input to connect with your laptop's HDMI output, surely you need a converter. If the laptop have A/V output, and the TV too have an A/V input, you can connect in between, using an AV cord. google.com/+GopakumarGopalan

Howto connect PC to sony 43ht20

Hi, depending on your computer monitor output, you need a video converter from VGA or HDMI to composite (RCA yellow connector) or S-Video , and corresponding cable. also another for audio output from earphones, called "Y" audio cable. The following pictures are examples of VGA to composite video converter and Y audio cable.

Bought an lg 3d smart tv. It has NO input/output jacks whatsoever, just hdmi & usb jacks. Wii does not have usb. How in the world am I suppose to hook this up? Is there a special adapter I need?

The original Wii console has Component, Composite or S-Video out. Your best bet is the Component out with a component video to HDMI converter. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/770114-REG/KanexPro_RGBRLHD_Component_to_HDMI_Audio_Video.html is one of these converters. You'll also need the RCA component video (3 RCA plugs) and audio cables (2 plugs) and an HDMI cable. These aren't sold in the box with the converters. Before buying a converter, check the output signal resolution.

I hope this helps.

(composite video to HDMI converters also exist. However, the resolution of the composite video signal is lower than the resolution on the component video signal.)

My laptop doesn't have a HDMI port so I have to connect with two cables...I think ones VGA and the other is audio. This goes into the back of my old smaller tv...which is ok but I'd like to route the

Your TV doesn't have video output on either HDMI or Composite video. (There are a few TVs that do have a video out but often that is only available for some input/output combinations. You would need to check the manual but the PC input is usually not available for the video output.)

You could get a VGA to composite or component video converter and direct the signal to your new TV from your PC. One example of the first converter is here: http://www.cablestogo.com/product/29548 . An example of the VGA to component video is here: https://sewelldirect.com/audio-authority-vga-to-component-pc-to-hdtv-converter.asp . There are other models available. A few VGA to HDMI converters also exist. However, since those need to convert an analog output to digital, they are more expensive.

I hope this helps.

(A few VGA to composite cables exist. They will not work for your purpose. They are designed to connect projectors with RCA ports and understand the VGA RGB signal to a computer.)

I bought a blueray player that only has HDMI out put but the older TV I have only has component input (red, white & Yellow RCA plugs) and an S-video input plug. Is there a cable that will connect

There are no cables that will do this. You will need a digital HDMI to analog (composite or S-video) converter box. The video output will drop from 1080p to 480i. Here's one option: http://www.gefen.com/kvm/gtv-hdmi-2-compsvidsn.jsp?prod_id=11402 . You will need the HDMI and RCA composite video cables separately. A cheaper version is here: http://www.amazon.com/Portta-Composite-Toslink-Converter-Blue-Ray/dp/B00GH92V8C . This one may need a power adapter purchased separately.

However, HDCP (high definition copy protection) will prevent you from watching some videos with the either of boxes. Most commercial Blue-ray movies have this Digital Rights management feature added to them. Some DVDs may be also have this enabled.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(unfortunately, the HDCP is written to block any viewing of content with analog monitors. You may be better off looking for a new TV or a PC monitor with an HDMI input. The lower end of these do not have speakers so you'd need PC speakers connected to the audio out on the monitor.)

I want to connect my computer to sony wega triniton kvxr29m80 from the hdmi or vga port to the tv's component or 3rc ports. is it possible..i have tried the hdmi to component cable and it does not...

An HDMI to component video cable will not work. These are meant for projectors that work with computers and have only component in jacks.

You will need is a VGA to Composite video converter, VGA to component video converter or HDMI to component video converter. These translate the computer output to the input the TV will understand. Here are some VGA to component video converters: http://www.ramelectronics.net/audio-video/video-converters/vga-rgb-hv-to-component-video/c10000-c11200-c11215-p1.html . (The exception is if your computer has a TV-out port. In this case, you need an adapter that looks like an S-video plug that will then have composite or component video jacks.) If you want to use the TV speakers, you will also need a 3.5 mm to 2 RCA audio adapter (either M and F/F for an RCA cable to the TV or F to M/M for a 3.5 mm audio patch cable) or cable (3.5 mm M and M/M RCA).

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(A computer gives RGB output on the VGA cable; the TV reads PbPrY on the component video. Thus you need for the converter rather than a simple adapter. Similar communication differences apply on the HDMI signal.)

Is i possible to connect a rca cable to the converter box from a dvd player and watch on the tv?

DVD players can have several outputs:
* coaxiable cable
* composite video (RED/WHITE for stereo audio, and YELLOW for video)
* component video (RED/BLUE/GREEN to video components, plus RED/WHITE for stereo audio)
* HDMI

TVs can have several inputs:
* coaxiable cable
* composite video (RED/WHITE for stereo audio, and YELLOW for video)
* component video (RED/BLUE/GREEN to video components, plus RED/WHITE for stereo audio)
* HDMI

Just use the correct tables to "match" the output to the input.

Connect laptop to toshiba 50h8250

This requires a converter. If the laptop has a VGA port, use an VGA to component video or VGA to composite video converter. See this site for some examples: http://www.svideo.com/pctocomponent.html . Do not use a VGA to component video cable - these are meant for projectors that use RGB signals.

If the laptop has an HDMI port, you'll need a different type of converter, like this: http://www.hdtvsupply.com/hdmi-to-component-adapter.html . Then set the output to YPbPr.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(I doubt your laptop has a video controller that can output a non-RGB signal.)
