The green power light is on at power up but no picture. I can hear a fan cycling on and off and then the red lamp light turns on. Does this mean that I need a new lamp?

Hi, TV needs lamp replacement as existing lamp got weak or has been reached to end of its working life, please note that lamp is not dead or broken so that is why lamp lit is not lit at tv front. Hope these info will help you. Thanks.
Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast. But if you don't hear any strange noises,tv is around 6000 hrs,2-4 yrs it could be time to replace the lamp. The lamp you need is XL2100 you can find it here http://www.discount-merchant.com/Sony-XL-2100U-TV-Lamp-p/sony_xl-2100u_replacement_lamp.htm?Click=48173 .Have a blessed one!
if you hear chirping or a loud buzzing, you have a bad colorwheel. the lamp won't turn on if the colorwheel doesn't spin as fast as it needs to. if you don't hear anything like that, you need a new power supply. the lamp striking takes a lot of power, and if the power supply can't handle it, it shuts off. you can get the part from an infocus service center and replace it yourself, or send it to them for repair. either way, try av solutions in ny. they're really good. www.avsolutionsny.com
if you don't hear a high-pitched whir, the colorwheel needs replacing. if you do hear it, the lamp may need replacing. if the lamp is new, there is a power supply problem.
This is the lamp going bad. For some reason, it doesn't spit out that lamp error, it just keeps refiring the lamp and it just cycles forever. When the lamp totally fails, you will get the lamp led lit. Replace the lamp to resolve.
