I may be wrong but that sensor is for the ac not for engine operation and at 113 if its not that hot then the sensor is bad but if its summer its ok,, your engine works with intake air temp

SOURCE: Heater blows cold air

If the "Heater In Hose" gets hot, and the "Heater Out Hose" does not get hot, than either the Control Valve is sticking closed, or your heater core is plugged up with ****!

Have you used "Barrs Leak" or a simular product for a radiator leak? That will sometimes clog the heater core.

I have a 1993 Grand Cherokee, which "Normally" throws very hot air out of the heater, but lately sometimes it only throws warm air, till I make my first stop, than it gets hot.....all because the heat control valve is hanging up.

Low water in the radiator will also cause a heater to not work.....if the water level is too low to circulate to the heater.

SOURCE: Heat not working

If jeep is a limited model it has automatic temp control for the heater blend door, it is controled by a electric motor, and can be problematic with age, sometimes it makes a clicking noise when the blend door is stiff ,which then it must be lubed and freed up

SOURCE: clutch won't engage on air conditioning compressor

The air gap may be too wide between the clutch disc and plate. It usually happens from wear. You can test this possibility by engaging the clutch electrically as you have done and then push on the disc slightly with the handle of a hammer or screwdriver. Be careful not to get your hand or fingers too close while the engine is running. Basically you are helping the magnetic field pull the disc in. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Here is my problem... 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0

Sounds like you have done all but 2 things to treat this. Double check the wiring to any loose connections or breaks. If good replace the electric fan itself. Because of the nature of electric fans most are not engaged when the vehicle is moving but should kick in when it is sitting engine on even if the AC is not running. The AC control actually provides extra voltage to the fan to run at a higher speed. It sounds like you have lost one of the speeds to your fan.

I have mits triton nov 2009 4x4 the ambient p0072 makes the eng light come on but it does not have that sensor so I need to know if any knows the colour so I can check wiring thanks

code p 0072 refers to outside air temp sensor ( ambient temp sensor--low input===causes ---wiring short to ground, outside air temp sensor ---ECM
thee has to be an ambient temp sensor as that reports the temp to the ECM to adjust the air/fuel settings for cold starts
it could be in the MAF/VAF sensor area

06 rendezvous that the digital temp display for outside temp is wrong. The display reads 32 degree and it is actually 80 degrees so the A/C does not cool vehicle down. What is the problem?

Suspect a failure in the ambient air temp sensor. Has the vehicle ever been in a frontal collision? This sensor is normally located in front of the radiator assembly bolted to the rad support. If it is reading a cold temperature, it will not allow the AC to operate

I would suspect the outise air temp sensor is defective, replace it. It is located in front of the AC condensor core.

I turn on ignition and vehicle starts to idle real high seems like accelarator cable is sticking

Hi Clucas, If you're talking about a cold engine, the vehicle is fitted with an automatic 'up idle' system. Depending on how cold the ambient temperature is. The colder it is outside the higher the idle, until the engine reaches normal operating temp. The engine should then settle down to the correct idle speed. If however the cold start raises the speed to more than 1350, have a scan carried out. If the idle speed is always at a high rpm, do the same.A leakage of air into the intake manifold can also cause the latter problem. A leakage however will not be evident via a scan. Regards Johngee10

Air conditioner will not come on. The tempeture gage is reading -40. The sensor is not reading properly.

Hi ruswashingto,

The air conditioner may not work properly if your ambient temp is reading -40. The a/c control unit monitors ambient temp so that it does not operate at too low outside temps. I would recommend fixing the ambient temp sensor and rechecking your a/c operation.

Air temp indicator only reads temps below 50 degrees

Ambient air temp sensor could be the cause. Normally located in front grille area.

99 oldsmobile intrigue

The ambient temperature sensor going bad causes this exact problem. I've replaced many of them because when they show outside temp as being below 60 degrees, the A/C control module will shut the compressor off.
