How do I UNPROTECT images on CANON S100?

On an SD card there is a switch at the side which can be moved to protect the card contents (locked) or permit writing to the card (unlocked). Just move this to the unlocked position.
If these images have been locked via the camera menu system, just go to the relevant area and unprotect them,

When i try to delete a picture it says that it is protected

Unprotect the picture first. Press MENU, select the Playback tab (right-pointing triangle), then "Protect images," then press the SET button. Select the image to be unprotected and press SET.

Full details are in the "Protecting images" section of the manual (page 129 in my copy). If you need a manual, you many download a copy (and more) from here.

How to delete protected images

If you want to delete everything on the card, the easiest way is to format the card. This will wipe out all images (and any other data as well) on the card, whether protected or not. The Format command is in the Setup menu. Details on page 32 of the manual.
To delete individual protected pictures, unprotect them first. From the Playback menu select Protect/Unprotect (the key icon). Details on page 84.

I put my memory card into my Kodak EasyShare C143 digital camera. I press the review button, but all that comes up is that the file is 'Unrecognised'. One out of the three pictures is unprotected, but the...

It sounds as if the card was not formatted for the camera before it was put to use. My suggestion is that you attempt to download the images that you do have to the computer, then format the memory card. Always format a new card and after each time you download pictures from the card to the computer.

I accidentally protected a picture on my camera nikon d60, how to unprotect it and delete it

There are 2 ways to do it. Firstly you can format the card - this will delete all images, including protected ones. Second method is to display the image in full frame view mode (or highlight it in thumbnail view) and then press the AE-L /AF-L button. This will remove the protection - or protect an unprotected image.
Hope that helps
