Can't set the radio stations

When you find a frequency that you
want to store in memory, press one of pre-
set tuning buttons 1through 6 and hold until the
preset number stops flashing.
The number you have pressed will flash in the
preset number indicator and then remain lit.
The selected radio station frequency has been
stored in memory.
The next time you press the same preset tun-
ing button the radio station frequency is re-
called from memory.

Pioneer premier deh-500ub presetting stations

Storing the strongest broadcast
frequencies
BSM (best stations memory) lets you automatically
store the six strongest broadcast frequencies.
1 Use MULTI-CONTROL to select BSM in
the function menu.
2 Press MULTI-CONTROL to turn BSM on.
The six strongest broadcast frequencies are
stored in the order of their signal strength.
# To cancel, press MULTI-CONTROL again.
Tuning in strong signals
Local seek tuning lets you tune in only those
radio stations with sufficiently strong signals
for good reception.
% Press LOCAL repeatedly to select the
desired setting.
FM: OFF—LEVEL1—LEVEL2—LEVEL3—
LEVEL4
MW/LW: OFF—LEVEL1—LEVEL2
The LEVEL4 setting allows reception of only
the strongest stations, while lower settings let
you receive progressively weaker stations.

You can also perform this operation in the menu
that appears by using MULTI-CONTROL.
Selecting alternative frequencies
When the tuner cannot get a good reception,
the unit automatically searches for a different
station in the same network.
1 Use MULTI-CONTROL to select AF in the
function menu.
2 Press MULTI-CONTROL to turn AF on.
# To turn off, press MULTI-CONTROL again.

! Only RDS stations are tuned in during seek
tuning or BSM when AF is on.
! When you recall a preset station, the tuner
may update the preset station with a new frequency
from the station’s AF list. No preset
number appears on the display if the RDS
data for the station received differs from that
of the originally stored station.
! During AF search, sound may be temporarily
interrupted.
! AF can be turned on or off independently for
each FM band.

DEH-P580MP

Hi,

If you are referring to the presets tuner station settings being deleted when powered off and or the clock resetting its time, then you have to verify that the Pioneer DEH-P580MP is wired as follows:
Black - chassis/body ground/GND
Yellow - always on/constant B+12 such as the + terminal of the battery;
Red - switched on B+12 such as the ACC of the IGN switch.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Pioneer DEH 225 car radio instructio booklet

Actually, there a re a bunch of hits when you Google it.

Here's the answer I found straight from Pioneer:

If your car CD player is a 2006 model or newer:
  • With the ignition on and radio OFF,
  • Press and hold the MULTI-CONTROL button for 2 seconds
  • Rotate MULTI-CONTROL button until display reads CLOCK.
  • Push MULTI-CONTROL button up or down to adjust hour and minutes.
  • Press ESCAPE or SOURCE button to exit

If your car CD player is newer than 2000 but older than 2006:

  • With the ignition on and radio OFF, press and hold the FUNCTION button, until the display pops up, then release the button.
  • (If you do not have a function button, use the AUDIO button instead).
  • Press the FUNCTION button again until the clock shows on the display.
  • Press the UP and DOWN buttons to adjust the hours.
  • Press the LEFT and RIGHT arrows to move to the minutes.
  • Press the UP and DOWN to adjust the minutes.
When you've completed all the steps, just press the SOURCE button to exit
    .

If your car CD player is 1999 or older:

  • With the ignition on and radio OFF,
  • While holding down the CLOCK button, press the number preset button to set the hour.
  • While holding down the CLOCK button, press the number 2 preset button to set the minutes.
  • Pressing the respective buttons consecutively or continuously will advance the hour and minute.
For further assistance please consult your user manual.

Here are some other answers from around the web:

Hold down the source button till the unit switches off. Press thefunction button until it says clock. Use the tuner/volume controls tochange the time. Left/right switches between hour and minute. Up/downchanges the actual numbers. The website I'm including has all the old manuals on it if this doesnot work for you. Problem is, you may not know your model # so willhave to click through the links till you see a pic of one that lookslike yours. Hope this helps. I'm stoked that my clock is finally right!

turn the radio OFF with the car ON
then its easy to set the clock.
Most folks try to figure it out with the radio on
and it cant be done with the radio on,

Turn it off. Hold down "func" or "function" until something happens.
Then press the arrow keys still something else happens. When you're done, press "func" or "function" till nothing happens. Turn it on.
