no PC stated, they work as TEAM. ok.

no not SAFE but power saver mode,
also called SLEEP MODE to save power losses, (Energy Star and GREEN )

AC1 is non USA. this is very old monitor and all have this OLD style internal sleep mode. covered in the manual. circa 2005 old. most this old are dead now from dead CCLF back lamp tubes. but the manual shows push menu key on front then in the OSD MENUS WE THEN FIND sleep timer (clock) Inside the monitor,
http://www.manualsdir.com/manuals/165841/lenovo-l171.html if the PC is silent the monitor goes to sleep. if the PC goes to sleep wiggle the mouse or hit space bar until PC wakes up. if sleep is bad in PC turn sleep off. if PC is dead, then that is wrong. test the monitor in 2nd PC if monitor works there the monitor is ok, and PC1 is bad.

This happens when there is no communication with video card. Check cables, re-seat video card, make sure monitor is set to correct mode. VGA (15pin blue), DVI (white), or HDMI.

Unfortunately, this is a standard problem, as when your laptop goes into sleep mode, it shuts off power to the secondary monitor, without giving it the signal to go into sleep mode. You could try digging around your settings, but most likely you'll just need to turn off the monitor when you're not using it.

go through control panel to Power Options, switch off the options to sleep/hibernate.

turn off everything and restart computer in safe mode,do this by holding down f8 as you reboot,then go in your setting and remove time limit on sleep mode.

Instead of sleep mode, tyr hibernate. It is generally faster except the whole computer shuts down. When you power back up, you're exactly where you were. Mine takes about 30 seconds.

I have a LCD panel it is connect to to the LCD. I need to change a setting on the computer to make it stop going into sleep mode, however, now that it's in sleep mode, how do I get out of that so I can make the change?

I think it maybe time to buy a new monitor

you can change this by going to control panel then display icon and changing it in settings.
