I ran into this with my iPhone 5, here's what I did to fix this issue. Not sure if i found a work-around or just a tip for the Google or Apple folks to fix this problem. I too had the issue of not being able to log into my Gmail account from my iPhone 5. Even though I had cookies enabled, I tried every option but nothing worked, even disabling my pop-up blocker, rebooting, Cleared History and Website Data, checked for updates and reinstalled the Gmail app. Until I logged in through Safari refusing to use any apps, I just logged in without issue. I signed in, signed out then tried using my Gmail app and it worked. For some reason, I had to log into Gmail (Safari searched Google Gmail and logged in that way) with the Safari app, log out, then use the Gmail app. Hope this helps someone, It was testing me for a while. You do have to allow cookies but not pop-ups.

Using Gmail as your Universal Inbox

Nowadays most people have more than one email account. If one of yours is a Gmail account, you can use it as your primary inbox to check all your POP3 accounts in your Gmail browser window. But do remember that you can check only other POP3 accounts only. You won’t be able to check Yahoo mail, Windows Live Hotmail, or other such web mail accounts. Also, not all POP3 servers work with Gmail.
Here is what you need to do. Open your Gmail account and click Settings-Accounts. In the ‘Get mail from other accounts‘ section, click Add another mail account. Enter the email address of the account you want to add, and click Next Step.
Enter your username, password and POP3 server. If you want to continue to access the account through a mail client or through the ISP’s own Web interface, in addition to picking up and sending mail in your Gmail account, check Leave a copy of retrieved message on the server. This allows you to read the mail in Gmail, but the mail will remain on the ISP’s server so that you can download it with your standard mail program or read it through the account’s own Web interface. On the other hand, if you plan on accessing the mail for the address only through your Gmail account, you can leave the box unchecked.
Next, check Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail to keep mail snoops at bay. In some instances a POP3 account may not work with an SSL connection: if that is the case, you will have to leave this box unchecked.
If you want all of your incoming messages from the account to carry a label, such as the name of the account, select Label incoming messages. In Gmail, a label works much as a folder does. You can view all mail that carries the same label by clicking the label. Gmail automatically creates a label for the address of the new account. You can select a different label or create a new one by choosing the appropriate entry from the drop-down list. Another option is to have messages bypass your inbox and go straight to your Gmail archive. This would be a good choice if you want to use Gmail primarily for searching through mail. When you’ve made all your selections, click Add Account.
You can compose mail in Gmail and have it appear to the recipient as if it were from the account you just added. When a message appears asking whether you want to create a custom From address, click Yes and follow the instructions.
Gmail will check your account, and any mail sent to either address will appear in your Gmail inbox. To stop Gmail from checking the mail, click Settings-Accounts and choose delete next to the account.

Google gmail sign in

Signing in to your Gmail account gives you access to your email messages.
Gmail Web-based email functions as most email services do, with the option for users to send and receive email messages, store contacts and organize messages.

You can opt to store your Gmail login information when signing in so that you do not need to re-enter it each time you access your email. You can access your Gmail account on a computer or a mobile phone.

Open a Web browser window.
Click the address bar and enter "gmail.com." Press the "Enter" key.

Enter your Gmail username and password in the indicated fields.
Check the "Stay Signed In" box to save your username and password for future logins.

Click "Sign In" and wait for your Gmail account to load.

Most of my emails have gone missing, can they be retrieved.

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

Common reasons for missing emails;

Settings applied to incoming mail, such as a filter or forwarding

A configuration issue with IMAP1 or POP2 access

Deliberate or accidental human action, or possibly a compromised account

check all of your folders, trash, all mail, forwarding and POP/IMAP settings, and check your filters to make sure nothing is being stopped.

If you've deleted a message permanently, by clicking Delete Forever in your Spam or Trash, you won't be able to recover the message using the Gmail interface.

If you've moved a message to Trash, by clicking Delete, but it's been fewer than 30 days and you haven't permanently deleted it, follow these steps to put it back in your inbox:
  1. Sign in to Gmail.
  2. Click Trash along the left side of any Gmail page. (If you don't see Trash along the left side of your Gmail page, go to the Labels tab in Settings, then click the show link next to the Trash label.)
  3. Locate the message you'd like to move to your inbox, and check the box next to the sender's name.
  4. Click Move to Inbox.
If you feel that someone has been in your gmail, you can test this and see if someone from another IP has been in your mail! ( i really like gmail for so many reasons)

When you sign into your Gmail, look all the way down on the bottom right. It will show recent activity and IP addresses that have accessed your mail. You can also sign up for 'alerts' to unusual activity/sign ins from here.

Hope this helps.

My account gdaniel682 is saying it is disabled. How can it be enabled. I believe this is in error

If Gmail detect abnormal usage that may indicate that your address has been compromised, they temporarily disable access. It will take between one minute and 24 hours for access to be reinstated, depending on the behavior detected by our system. Unusual activity includes, but is not limited to:
  1. Receiving, deleting, or downloading large amounts of mail via POP or IMAP in a short period of time.
  2. Sending a large number of undeliverable messages (messages that bounce back).
  3. Using file-sharing or file-storage software, browser extensions, or third party software that automatically signs in to Gmail.
  4. Leaving multiple instances of Gmail open.
  5. Browser-related issues. Please note that if you find your browser continually reloading while attempting to access your Inbox, it's probably a browser issue, and it may be necessary to clear your browser's cache and cookies.
If you feel that you have been using Gmail according to the Gmail Terms of Use, please contact Gmail.

Hey Ken

Try to delete your browser's private data via Tools -> Internet Options -> "Temporary Internet Files".

You can also try to access the account via Fire Fox if you have that browser.
