Ink out reported as Communication Error.

Epson D88 reports "Communication Error" when it really means an ink cartridge needs replacing!
Thus, it doesn't give me a clue as to which cartridge!!
The print window has a blue "info" button which merely reports (under "supply Levels") that "no info is available".
Every which way in the "Utility" I get the report "Communication error".
How come it is so confused? And how to determine which colour ink is out?!
Thanks.

Epson D88 will not print, both red lights flash, message remove obstruction switch off and on. No change still 2 redlights flashing

The Lights can flash on an error and also iff the INK levels are down. You must check the ink levels and try to do a reset with printer software reinstalled.
Remvoe pinter from the PC, unistall and then reinstall to see if the printer shows the INK level exactly. If not replace INK cartridges to confirm.

Epson RX425 Ink Cartridge problem

First make sure you are placing the right
color cartridge into the right slot.
Most Printers are touchy about the
installation of ink cartridges. If the
instructions say to press the cartridge
into the slot until you hear a loud click,
that's what they mean. If at first you
don't succeed, remove the cartridge and
reinsert it into the slot again and press
on it hard till it clicks.
Then your printer should work properly.
Hope this is of some help. Bud

I have just changed all the ink's in an Epson d120

If you replaced with "genuine" ink-cartridges, then it should report "full".

If you replaced with "refilled" ink-cartridges, then the company that refilled forgot to "reset" the electronics inside the ink-cartridge, in order to report "full".

Or, perhaps, the software "toolbox" that came with the printer has a button "I have installed new cartridges, please re-verify the ink-levels" ??? Click that button.

I have an Epson D88 Inkjet Printer which is a couple of years old. Both the ink and the paper lights or flashing. The manual recommends taking to the dealer but it is not worth it. Any tips on a quick fix?

Could it be you're out of ink and paper simultaneously? But is it even worth buying more ink to find out if this is the cure? If so, I'd try generic ink cartridges to minimize the cost of the experiment. On the other hand, you could probably replace the printer, with new ink cartridges for not much more than the cost of ink for your old printer. They're made to be throwaway, unfortunately.

Epson C43SX communication error

It is presumed the 6 posts in this problem are all from the same person. If one (or more) isn't, and my response below doesn't help, would you you start a new separate post on your particular problem.

A solitary blinking red light means that the ink level in one of your cartridges is low, but printing can continue normally until the ink runs out, at which point the red light becomes permanently on. You must now change the ink cartridge before the print will work again.

If the green light is flashing at the same time as the red one, this means the Waste Ink Pads in your printer are saturated with ink and the waste ink ("protection") counter has exceeded its limit. The Waste Ink Pads should be replaced as soon as possible. You can overcome this problem temporarily by using the SSC utility to reset the Protection Counter. This will stop the lights flashing and restore normal operation.

However, remember that eventually ink will overflow from the waste ink area and make a dreadful mess, so you must change the waste ink pads before this happens. This requires the disassembly of the printer. A copy of the service manual is available from a number of sellers - just Google "Epson C43 Service Manual". You will often find them for sale very cheaply on E-Bay. Note, however, if you can find or borrow any of the C40,42,44,60,62 service manuals, as far as ink pad replacement goes, they are the same.

If you decide to have a go at replacing the ink pads yourself, report back and I will provide further help.

The reference manual is at

http://support2.epson.net/manuals/english/ij/stylusc43/REF_G/INDEX.HTM

which provides good information on the meanings of the error lights.

Please report back with further information if the above advice doesn't help.
