The volume just turns down and wont come back up on my aiwa z-r55 model stereo, why?

The volume control only turns down when i turn it up or down and wont turn back up.

Open the remote control and clean the contacts with alcohol

SOURCE: volume knob

In other words the lever that the front knob is attached to is broken or the microswitch is bad or broken.. if your not a tech please take the unit in to a shop as there are no user serviceable parts inside these units. Good Luck

all u have to do is turn the volume down once then bang it against the door 5 times...it should be fine...

Check out the video. It may just need cleaning with switch cleaner and a couple of drop of sewing machine oil. The fact it does move is a good sign.

How does the volume control knob work on my aiwa stereo system

It work as a simple twist action. That small, dark plastic part right in the centre will turn, possible with a small flathead screwdriver.

Should i spray the inside of the volume knob to fix the volume?

You can try contact cleaner. Spray some in (with unit turned OFF) and move the knob up and down several times stop to stop. then try to see if it helped.

Why does the volume go all the way up when i put it to 15?

aiwa typical issue. loved my aiwa's sound hated the stereo. my volume control knob did the same thing and i had to order a new control.

AIWA shelf system volume button

I'm sorry but I don't have a listing for that model number. Many of hte Aiwa units use what is called a digital encoder. A call to Sony with the model number should get you the part number as well as the cost and availability. Aiwa is a brand of Sony.

Aiwa Shelf system volume control doesn't work right

The part in question is called an encoder. I have had to replace this part on a number of Aiwa units. If you can post the model number off of the back, I''ll get you the part number.

Hi Your Problem need an expert Technician, this Aiwa stereo has the digital type volume control that gives pulses to the cpu to make volume up / Down. Solution to be fixed by a technician: - Remove the volume from the front board, disassemble it and clean the conductive parts inside it then reassemble back and check. Good Luck Toufic G. Malek
