Dishwasher GVADW12W dishwasher overflowed because drain hose was blocked, fixed blockage and dishwasher drained but now the overflow warning light will not stop flashing.
SOURCE: Dishwasher does not drain, instead drains through overflow valve in sink. No apparent clog seen.
Usually the sink connection is not an overflow, it is the main drain from the dishwasher. It is more likely your s-bend is blocked under the sink- try putting a bucket under it and unscrewing the u-shaped piece and cleaning out (remember don't wash it in that sink while the pipe is off)

it's supposed to drain out the same drain pipe your sink uses. If it is overflowing into your sink, then your drain pipe is clogged. Your sink probably overflows when your disposal runs too, right? Unclog your pipe and you're good to go.
SOURCE: main hose blocked so flooded dishwasher blockage
When this happens sometime the "Back Pressure" mucks up the sensor. It may have to be replaced?

If the water is comming out the overflow on the counter top then yes your drain is cloged. you will need to have the drain line looked at and un cloged. It can also be the drain hose from the overflow on the counter and the drain on the sink.
Good luck

Solved.
while messing around with it i turned the dishwasher on its side and a large volume of water flowed out. i believe this was in some sort of overflow catchment and the overflow switch was there. after the water drained i uprighted the dishwasher turned on and the light/beeper had stopped
That's great. Way to go
