I have just brought a Panasonic LCD TV (TX-26LMD70) and DVD recorder (DMR-EX77EB) with hard drive. They have been set up according to the instructions in the manual and everything is working fine except that I cannot record onto the hard drive if the TV is on standby. I found this out while I was away over the weekend and when I got back all the programmed recordings were black, whereas if I leave it to record while the TV was on it works fine. Is there a solution to this or am I always going to have to leave the TV on when I want to record something when I'm at work for example?
You need to set your programs up to "record" via the cable menu screen ( select program, pick to record program ).
Doing it this way, the cable box will turn on at the time you had it set to record. The TV will not turn on.
This worked for me.
I have a similar setup. Your problem is because you are selecting the recording on the digital tuner of the TV. When you do this you need to keep the TV on and canot switch channel.
You should make sure you use the digital tuner on the DMR-EX77 recorder and then you can use the TV as you like.
