Help Needed: I have 2001 Opel Corsa Classic1.4, and it at times just cuts out when I approach a stop street / Robot. Sometimes the EMU light comes on, whilst driving, and then goes off again.I have replaced the TPS (Throttle Posistioning Sensor), Idle control valve. This problem just started after my speedometer cable broke. I have not yet as such replaced it, but I am not too sure if this could be as a result of no speedo reading, causing the end to stall, coming to a robot/stop street. I now have to put the car in neutral and keep the idling up, so that it does not stall at the robot. But it also does not do it continually, sometimes the car idles normally, other times it just goes haywire, and stalls at every stop I make. Please give me some advice to sort out this irritating problem. Clinton

It sounds like you have a vacuum leak or intake gaskets leaking. Try this. Start the engine and let it reach the idle it want to go to. Get you a can of Brake Clean and spray it around the intake manifold (it on the top center of the engine, you may have to removed a plastic cover) If the engine idle changes up or down then the intake gaskets are leaking hence your vacuum leak. I hope this will help you.

maybe try replaceing the ingnition modual. that part can do a lot of weird things to these cars. its located inside the distributor cap, really easy to do. about $40 and 10 mins or less. sometimes as they start to fail they do odd things sometimes but not always

SOURCE: throttle/Idle/running problem - wants to run too fast, or stall out

RPM's up and down check EGR valve and sensor. EGR valve and sensor control idle. That's why your getting the surging on rpm's and this could be giving out the other codes. If mass flow was bad car will not start and the same for the map sensor. O2 sensor measures gas and air for right mixer. TPS controls 0-60 speed as in throttle respons.

My son had the exact same problem on a 93 Buick LeSabre. The crank shaft sensor was replaced for about 60 dollars and has not had the issue for over a year.

Unlikely to be a temperature sensor or switch, because when you start it, the engine is cold. It is a known issue!

really depends on how fast you were going when it went. could be new head needed or new pistons or both... if both more likely to be a new engine fitted....

Opel corsa 1.4i car cuts off when idling what is problem

My Opel corsa Lite 1.4i, 2005 model cuts off when idling or stopping. I've replace the ignition coil as it was suggested but the next day the problem continued. I've replace plugs, filters, ect. When I'm approaching a place where i have to stop i see lights on dashboard coming out and the engine goes off if i stop or if i put the second gear it kicks again. Please assist as none of mechanics in my area know where to fix now.
