Your sidekick 3 will NOT charge anymore .
even if the orange light is on & it says charging
it WILL NOT charge . Try using an old sidekick
&just charge the battery on it & then when its
done charging switch the battery back to the other
sk3 .
So did you buy it new? If so take it back. If not, then you got a used one that has a bad charginfgport. The sidekick 3 is notorioius for it and the sidekick ID has an issue with it as well. The orange light comes on but the connection that charges the battery itself is broken. Check out www.cellulardr.com. They charge about 75 dollars for the repair or you can do a workaround that charges the battery seperate form the phone.
The following link shows it for the sidekick 3 but the sidekick 3 and sidekick ID batteries are the same.
The sidekick 3 has a known issue with the charging port going bad. The orange light will usually come on but it doesn't charge the battery.
you can try www.cellulardr.com or you can do a work around that will cost less.
Most people will buy a cradle charge that has a built in spare battery charging slot. This allows you to charge the battery seprate form the phone. ?It is about 25 dollars on ebay. Its also a good idea to get a spare battery so you can have one charging at all times.
Another option is to get a charging cradle that has a spare battery charging slot. They go for about 30 dollars shipped on ebay. This will allow you to charge your battery external from the phone or if you have an extra battery , have one charging at all times.
I had a similar problem. I found that the charging port gets a little "stretched" after a while and the plug doesn't make contact the way it should when you insert it. I went and bout one of those universal chargers with the many different connectors and used one that is slightly larger in overall diameter with a slightly smaller hole. It worked fine after that. You can try wrapping the charger cord around the phone after you plug it in to see if it helps. It worked for me for a while but the charger plug eventually broke from fatigue. Hope this helps.
The battery might be an issue. Sometimes with lithium Ion batteries, tehy just act retarded and need to be jump started from the dead. Buy a battery from any vendor and test it out. If it doesnt work you can always return it.
