May need to tell the laptop in the screen resolution settings to display the image on the tv instead of the laptop. Right click on the empty desktop of the laptop and go to either propertie or screen resolution and then make sure that the computer can see that the tv is hooked up and that the image is showing on the tv instead of the laptop. You may also need to change the mode on the tv to vga.

My toshiba l500-02h is only showing blank page with booting.

Hello, Does it sit there and do nothing? Sometimes all that is needed is the battery pulled (disconnect power cord as well) Press and hold the power button down for about 5 seconds. Put battery back in and connect power cord. Now try booting. If nothing shows on the screen, the next step would be to connect an external monitor or TV (if you have one) to the VGA or HDMI port. If a picture shows on the monitor / TV but still not on the laptop, you may have a burnt out display... which is expensive to fix. You may find some good prices for screens on dbay.

I want to connect my dell inspiron 1525 to my lcd hd ready tv but have no idea how to? Does anyone have any advice?

The 1525has a a hdmi port which you can plug a hdmi cord into. This may not support the audio. the tv and pc should detect the new monitor automatically or you may have to toggle it by hitting F4 key.

I have a HP DV4 Pavilion 1287cl laptop and the screen has gone white. When I hook it up to an external monitor it works. Any ideas? A tech friend tested the inverter and said its fine.

I've come across this a few times and almost always with an HP. It was always the video card. I can't help too much more without seeing it. My best advice would be to take it to a repair shop.
hope this helps

I have a Compaq Presario laptop with a broken

Hi:
Just plugging in the monitor to your VGA port on the laptop won't make it display. You have to toggle to the exteral display, or both. Usually you have to hold down your function key, and then hit the external display key. It could be F1 thru F8, depending on your laptop model. Mine is F6. If you toggle thru the modes, your CRT should display . The missing pin is no concern!

Trying to hook compaq presario laptop to philips lcd digital tv

hey fox,
sounds to me like a connection problem. If the compaqs output is vga, you need to convert the input (tv side ) to hdmi, component, s-vidio... what ever you can find. Typically when you hook up your computer to a flat screen or such, its best to try to use the hdmi ports or the rpg. But if thats not available you need to take the outout from your laptop ( whatever type that might be and input it into your flat screen tv. If you input laptop into tv under ( eg..HDMI) then when you VIEW it you need to select the correct source on your flat screen. Such as hdmi or pcmi or rpg.I know that the do sell alot of cables that adapt from one type of connection to another. Typically only one cable is required from the laptop to the flat screen. If you think about it you are only using the flat screen as a monitor.
