Minn Kota Traxxis 80 Transom Mount Trolling Motor 80lb that squalled bad in reverse and dealer replaced lower unit it still squalls at half speed in reverse. Any ideas motor is just over a year old.

Question edited, removed 'Minnetonka', for the correct maker name. :>D
Question moved to a Minn Kota category from Health and Fitness.

If the repair was done under warranty, then that repair is still under warranty as it wasn't fixed.

If you want to do it yourself, you would have to strip to find where the noise comes from and then rebuild with plenty of Lithium Grease.

I have a Minn Kota Fortrex 80" Shaft 24volt motor. The shaft appears to have a lot of play where it connects to the top of the aluminium bracket at the head. How can I repair this?

what do you consider a lot of play
1/2 inch, 1", .02",040" or what
talk with a service agent for the equipment to get the exact amount of end play permissible or down load a workshop manual for the equipment

No you cannot. Due to the hard mounted foot controls, it has to stay a bow mount.

Want to replace the trim/tilt motors on my 1995 Yamaha TXRT 200hp outboards... do I have to remove the motors from the boat?

no. a unmodified transom bracket may need to be moved not removed. Since the tilt motor is out you will need to manually lift the engine. you can see the picture diagram at www.yamaha-motor.com. click on outboard motors, parts and service, view parts catalog. find your year make and model by following steps listed at top. select power trim and tilt assembly. in the picture you will see the location of the Manuel release valve on the starboard side. turn the Manuel release valve then lift the engine. tie it up or use a stand to keep it up,do not use the tilt lock. with the engine in full tilt position, you can see the motor. some brackets are modified were you can remove the motor without moving the transom bracket. If unmodified you'll need to follow these steps. (1) lower the engine back down.the steering arm needs to be removed from the steering cable and swung forward. do not remove steering arm from engine. on the starboard side of the engine you will see the steering cable going into the steering cable tube. (2)a 1 1/6 nut secures the cable to that tube remove it and slide cable out do not remove it.(3) lift engine again and secure it. your about to remove the motor mount bolt so make sure you secure the motor completely (4)remove upper and lower transom to bracket bolts remove bolts on the port side only.(5) you will see three bolt that go through the transom bracket to the trim and tilt assembly. remove them.(6) if all bolts are removed you will be able to slide the port transom bracket to the left out of the way(7) remove tilt/trim motor.

How to install trolling motor

If it is a bow mount model, then you basically need a bow mount bracket attached to the bow of your boat. If one didn't come with the outboard, you will have to buy one from the same manufacturer or an after-market one suitable for your boat. If in doubt, consult the local boating or marine store or wherever you purchased the motor or the bracket from.

I have a Minn Kota Endura 30, transom mount. Just wondering, is there a way to rotate the controls so that I could use the motor on or near the bow of my 15' Aluminum fishing boat?

There is kind of a collar on the lower side of the head where the head connects to the shaft. There is a single bolt that runs right thru the shaft at this location, remove it. Rotate the head 180 degrees and re-install the bolt. 5 minute job.

Remove pin pivot in transom mount

look for clips around the pin inside the housing perimiter. If you see rings cut in the pin that don't have clips in them, they probably fell off. If used in a marine environment, the pin probably is corroded and locked to the housing. Use usual methods, i.e. heat and lube and.....a hammer wrench.
