2000 S10 4.3L Fuel pump stopped working out of the blue. We Put a new Fuel Pump in, new harnes to fuel pump, new fuel filter, new relay, new fuses in IGN C and ECM B fuses. Still the pump will not turn on. We traced the wires and found that the gray wire to the pump is not getting power. Float on pump is working but not the pump itself. We traced it to the fuse box under the hood and tested it the and still no power. Double checked the fuses, Can feel the Relay clicking when key is turned on. Please Help. Ran out of Ideas of what to do. Name is Jon.

Did you verify that the relay terminals have the appropriate signals to them?

ECM fuse B (20-amp) should provide power at all times to the orange wire of the fuel pump relay. The relay coil receives ground via the black wire, and relay coil gets power from the dark green/white wire. When the relay is closed, you should have battery power on the gray wire.

The relay trigger wire should have power from the dark green/white wire in terminal 1 of the Vehicle Control Module (VCM) connector for the first couple of seconds after they key is turned to run (to prime the system) and when the truck is running. Checking for all the appropriate signals at the relay is where I would start. That is after I checked for diagnostic codes.

Believe the fuel relay is the middle relay out of the three in the left rear of the glove box. Last thing is to hot wire the fuel pump if you can not get it scanned, see if the pump is bad unless your going to have a shop work on changing the fuel pump.
Good luck and hope this helps. keep me posted.

How to troubleshoot a no fuel problem, no fuel at fuel rail in a 2000 olds sillhouette.

First check there is battery voltage to the pump and the pump starts when the ignition is switched on , if not check fuse and relay, check wiring from relay to pump. If ok and the pump is working , check for fuel blockage from the tank inlet to the pump , some have a sock type filter in the tank pick up tube, if all ok remove the fuel filter , switch on and fuel should flow at the filter, fit a new filter, if still no fuel at the rail fit a fuel pressure gauge an check for low pressure , if ok, the fuel pressure regulator may be stuck causing a air lock replace it.

My car wont start up

First of all, the new fuel pump may be bad. disconnect line at fuel filter where it goes through filter. and see if fuel flows, or have someone to put hand flat on bottom of tank and try to start car. if fuel pump is working you will feel a vibration on tank. if it does not work, check the fuel pump fuse in fuse box before you exchange it.and or the fuel pump relay! when car is running it runs constantly, when you simply turn key to on position, it runs for about 3 seconds(until fuel pressure in line comes up. and then cycles off.

Hi....
Fuel PUMP fuse and relay is located in the Engine compartment
Fused block . Driver side. under the hood.
The Fuel pump relay Is labeled F/Pump.
And the Fuel Pump Fuse is labeled ECMB ( 20 amp.)
The ground for the fuel pump is located At left rear Frame rail.

How can you tell if the fuel pump or the fuel relay are bad, just changed the filter car ran fine for a day. can't here the pump all the time, it seems to come and go.What do think?

very good chance the fuel pump is going bad.you can put your figer on top of the fuel pump relay and have someone turn on the key listen and feel for a click from the relay. if none you will need to use a volt meter and check the fuel pump fuse.if ok replace the fuel pumpor drop the tank and test for voltage to pump. hope this helps.

At the fuel pump relay you should have 1 full time hot wire. 1 hot wire when you turn on the switch. 1 ground, and the other wire goes to the pump. Test the ground to be sure it is good. If so then jump a hot to the one that goes to the pump and see if it runs.If it does then you have a bad relay or ECM. You can swap the relay with another of the same # from tour fuse box to test it.There is also a ground on top of the frame near the filler neck, check it too. Good Luck
