My printer isn't printing black. I print pictures and they are faded but the cartridges are both full. When I print a colored word document it works but plain black text doesn't appear on the paper nor in the pictures.
Try to clean the nossles with software from the manafactures website

A part solution is print/properties/maintenance/ink cartridge settings/select black only.
You do initially have to buy another color cartridge but you won'thave to buy another expensive color cartridge again in the future.

You can always perform the print nozzle cleaning procedure through your printer's software. If it is new, then the black cartridge has malfunctioned. Take it and your receipt to exchange it for another. I'll bet this is the problem since your color is working OK and your text is grayscale (partially working).

check your printer settings, make sure color only is not checked off, or if you mainly print black and white documents, you should have that option checked, you may have to go into advance printer options to do this.

My printer won't print black even though the cardtidge shows as 50% full. Coulor prints OK. This happens frequently when I try a new Kodak cartridge
