Your manual will say to use General pump oil GP100..or whatever DeWalt's number for that may be. See dewalt.com for their proper part number. From the pictures of that model I see on line, that is a General Pump and they have recommended Non-detergent 30w standard motor oil in the past. We like to use a non-foaming full synthetic 20-50w racing oil on these high RPM pumps.
The Dewalt 3100 came with 2 different pumps. The Blue Cat pump and the oil free pump that was made by DeWalt. You may just have a bad Thermal relief Valve on the unit.
You can find the parts diagram at www.allpartsinc.com
Hydraulic oil? Is this a pressure washer? Pump should be half full of SAE20 or SAE30 non-detergent motor oil. Engine should have 10W30 motor oil.
If you have a pressure washer ... and not water is coming out end of gun: Take all hoses off machine. Look at incoming water hose connection. The should be a filter washer. Clean or replace filter washer. Hook up water and turn on water. Water should come out other side of pump. Turn on power washer and see if water coming out of pump is pressurized. Now hook up pressure hose without gun. Turn on pressure washer and see if water comes out of hose and is pressurized. Finally, the gun may be bad. We used to replace guns when they went bad.
Could very well be. Did you check the oil level and condition of oil? If its too full or if its light brown milky, then water has entered crankcase. Pressure washer pumps cannot stand to ever let run dry. Even a little. Also excessive idling will overheat pump if it doesn't have a thermostatic relief valve that allows some more cool water to enter pump.If it doesn't have one add one. Find your PUMP mfg and model number. IF it's pumping good now and no leaks, quick replacing the seals will save big future repairs. www.pressure-washer-parts.com has lots of info on many pump manufactures. Or get some seals from dewalt.
Check with your local hardware store and your owners manual. Usually the oil to be used in a motor like that is SAE 20 3-in-1 oil that can be picked up at any hardware store. It comes in a red white and light blue bottle. (Note: Do not mistake it for the 2-in-1 oil that comes in the black and white bottle).
hi
some valves at cat pumps need a 100 psi pressure to open and close correct.
when there is air in the pump the valves wil not open and close till air is bleeded.
take of highpressure hose, open watertap and bleed pump till no more air comes out.
reconnect all hoses and try again.
if there is no more air in the pump and its still not working, i should think its the pump.
