SOURCE: Motor tries but cannot move on the horizontal.

You did tighten the AZ clutch? You did start from the HOME position? (turn the scope Counterclockwise to the hard stop)

Then you will either have to send it back to Meade for repairs, or open the bottom of the base, and look inside and see if the AZ worm gear is actually meshing with the motor. It could have come loose.

Science tech 262 manual

Can't find a manual. This is a 76mm reflector on a Alt/AZ mount.
1. During the day, put in the 20mm eyepiece and point to a object around 100 yards away.
2. Focus on the object
3. Align the finder to the object in the eyepiece
4, Set up at night, give the scope time to reach outside temperature
5. Point scope with finder at the moon. (More than half full will be too bright)
6 Use the lowest power eyepiece (highest number) and focus on the moon.
7. You may now use higher power eyepieces to observe.
8. Pointing the scope usually involves loosing 2 knobs to move the scope in up/down and side to side motion. There may be slow motion controls to adjust the scope as objects in the sky move.

I have 8" LX200 about

You have GOOD power? You can try and replace the hand controller cable--

I would also Calibrate motors, and retrain the drives. But re-training must be done in alt az mode.

Motor tries but cannot move on the horizontal. Moves fine on the vertical. Usage only in Alt/Az mode. Only have the electronic controller that came with the scope.

Setting nargins

The keys used for margin control on the brothers is the ALT key just to the left of the space bar, and the #3,4,& 5 keys.

To move outside the present margin to the left, backspace to the left margin. Press the ALT and '3' keys at the same time to bypass the margin. Back space past the margin to the point where the margin is to be set. At the point you want the new left margin, press the ALT and '4' keys at the same time to set the new left margin.

To move outside the present margin to the right, spacebar over to the right margin. Press the ALT and '3' keys at the same time to bypass the margin. Then spacebar over to the point where the new right margin is to be set. Press the ALT and '5' keys at the same time to set the new right margin.

The basics are that the ALT +3 releases margins, ALT +4 sets the left margin at the point of the carrier, ALT + 5 sets the right margin at the point of the carrier.

Hope this helps.

Changing margins

To change or reset margins, the keys involved are the ALT key to the left of the spacebar, the #keys 3,4, & 5.

The ALT & '3' keys are used to bypass the set margins.

To bypass the left margin, move the carrier to the left margin. Press the ALT & '3' keys at the same time. Release them then backspace the carrier to the point the new margin is wanted. Press the ALT and '4' keys at the same time to set the new left margin.

To bypass the right margin, move the carrier to the right margin. Press the ALT & '3' keys at the same time. Release them and spacebar to the point where the new right margin is wanted. Press the ALT & '5' keys to set the new right margin.
The main thing to remember is to move the carrier to the point where the new margin is needed. ALT + 3 bypasses old margins, ALT + 4 sets the left margin, & ALT + 5 sets the right margin.

HOW DO I USE THE TELESCOPE

Hi,

he first thing you will need to know is does your telescope have a polar axis or not, that is, is it intended to track, or is it merely a point and look, or what we call Alt-Az. Alt means altitude and Az means azimuth, where Alt is the distance above the horizon, and Az is the direction in a circle around the horizon. If you have an Alt-Az mount, just skip the polar alignment step. If you have a polar axis, that is, your telescope is intended to track the stars, then find north, and make sure the polar axis is approximately lined up in that direction. It does not have to be too accurate, but make sure it is pointing pretty close to north. If you are not sure where north is, either use a magnetic compass, or try to find Polaris, the North Star.

Thanks.

SEARS GARAGE DOOR OPENER

Make sure you put the black cup back on the end of the motor shaft and that it is pressed all the way on. Make sure the RPM sensor is plugged in. If neither of these are the issue, then you probably did not have the motor shaft pushed all the way back when you tightened the coupler after replacing the worm gear. Loosen that coupler and from the front of the motor (opposite end in which the coupler is on) push the shaft back as far as it will go. Hold it there while you tighten the coupler back up and then try it.

ETX125 PE new model. Elevation has totally stopped.

Could be that the DEC motor driver has died. That could be verified by swapping the connections between the RA and DEC. If the DEC now moves, then that is the problem. If not, then the DEC motor is bad.
