Your fan needs to work to cool the processor. Sounds like it is getting too hot and shutting down/restarting. Once it is cool, boot into the OS and check your event logs which should give an indication as to why but it does sound like a heat issue
Need more info, Give as much detail as you can. What happens when you push the on/off button? Fan spin? LED's Blink? Any thing on the screen? Sound? Does the computer try to start and a second later shut down? Check the power cord, check the AC outlet? Is it on a UPS? Try AC outlet? Can you get to BIOS or Boot Menu? ETC.
Alarm? Beep? Pull the AC plug, plug in , try again. Reseat the Memory Mods, replace CMOS battery. Need more info to give a informed solution. You didn'y supply your Model of Acer or OS? Take a look at Acer Support: http://support.acer.com/us/en/default.aspx
You may be having issues with the board itself. Or a bad memory chip something is bad in your machine that is not allowing it to run and boot up. Take one memory module at a time out of the computer and turn it back on again if it still beeps on alarm then replace the memory module you took out and do the next one. So on and do forth, do that for the IDE drives SATA drives etc each removable component hopefully the beep with stop and Windows will light up again. If this does not solve the issue the board may be bad. So check each item even the keyboard. What your doing is isolating anything that could be wrong outside of the board. Also when you get a chance although it may be too late for the Heat Sync Paste board may be burnt. Lets hope not I do know that Acer tends to get hot and get weird and I'm always monitoring my cleaning otherwise mine shuts down periodically letting me know that my machine is getting to hot. John
Sounds like a software error, Try using system restore to set back the pc to an earlier time. Also try starting up in safe mode and uninstall any software that you may have installed.
Check your system board(motherboard) for a CMOS reset jumper. usually located near the CMOS battery. change it over to the "reset" position. wait 5 mins boot pc. if it makes it to windows. shut down move the jumper back to the original position and try to boot.
Why not use your new hard drive as a storage disc. Reconnect your old hard drive as it was before. Hopefully it will boot the computer again. If it does, shut down the unit. On the primary bus, set your old HD as master & the new HD as slave with jumpers. Boot the unit & hopefully you will now have a "c"&"d" HD showing in My Computer. Remember that your are dealing with Windows & what should happen & what really happens can be two entirely different things.
i will check that out, Thanks, i will let you know how it went :)
