I have not used this scanner either for a couple of years.... my printer died and the printer I got was a combo job with scanner. However, I need the ability to scan slides, which the 5470c does. However, when I hook it up, while everything physically appears to work, I get heavy vertical streaks over my scanned image. Any ideas? I've tried both a scan of slides and a scan on the glass and get the same results. Using a parallel cable and have Windows XP (same as when we used this last) and software is Precision Pro. Thanks.

First, a power adapter is required to connect your scanner. the power adapter must be supplied with the scanner. If your scanjet 5470c scanner is having USB interface or connectivity, then you need USB cable and if it is SCSI interface, then you need SCSi cable to connect to your PC. Hi , Scanjet 5470c does'nt work under W 7 . No drivers available . Here are a few hints : 1° hint : Do not connect scanner . Load XP driver ( yes , XP) , reboot , connect scanner and wait for confirmation of successfull operation . Reboot . Dowload and install FreeKapture ( yes , it's free ) from http://download.cnet.com/FreeKapture/3000-2094_4-10673689.html Open Freekapture , clic on Scan and select WIA-Hewlett-Packard . Scanjet 4470c works fine in this mode but if you choose HP PrecisionScan Pro , program will hang . In any case , no slides or negatives scans possible but the rest works . 2° hint : If you have the W XP install disc , you could install a virtual version of W XP on your HDD ( http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/desktop_downloads/vmware_player/3_0 ) You could also partition your HDD ( http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html ) and install W XP on the new one . better download the latest driver for your scanner from the hp's website and while selecting the new driver you have to specify that you are using windows 7 and also specify if it is 32 bit or 64 bit you will get the driver , install it and connect the scanner it will work ..... thats all....
No power to hp 5470c scanjet. Have not used it for about 6 months. Now can get 0 power. Could it be the power adapter? Or is it in the machine? Have tried different electrical outlets and still no power
My hp scanjet 5470c has worked fine in the past, now after wanting to use it again, it won't power up at all. I know my connections from the wall to my scanner are good?????
Dear go to www.hp.com click on support and drivers then enter your product model now you choose your operating system and download driver free.
First install its software or driver only then you should attach your scanner (when your computer demand or required for its attachment). Good Luck
