are you installing the correct thermostat the right in the head or block
3 thermostats indicate incorrect fitment method
heater hoses run either way as the water is pushed through the heater core by the pump
the fuel system is seperate from heating system.check water pump the impeller could have deteriated i have seen this in another cavalier, once i removed water pump the blades that move the water were full of holes.but first make sure ther is good flow to the heater core.also hope you used a 50/50 mix of antifreeze because solid antifreeze wont heat up.
1. Your coolant level is low 2. Your thermostat doesn't close and needs to be changed 3. The valve from the cooling system to the heater core is stuck 4. Your heater core is clogged
these are somethings that maybe causing it to over heat (1) not enough cooling in it.(2) water pump drivebelt (3) Radiator core blocked (4) Bad thermostat (5) fan blades broken or cracked (6)Radiator cap need to be replace (7) Ignition timing incorrect if all fails stop by your local library and get your hands on a Haynes auto repair Manual for your car wish you the best of luck Michigan Man
* Worn wash impeller (depending on design). Test by placing a glass upright in upper rack with full charge of water in the basin. Run dishwasher for 30 seconds. Glass should fill up. If not, replace wash impeller.
* Debris caught in spray arm holes. Remove spray arm and clean out with water and compressed air.
* Heating element burned out. Check water temp during wash--should read between 130 to 140 F.
* Insufficient water fill in basin. In most models, proper fill level is just up to the heating element. Much less than this will result in poor cleaning. Hope this helps.
