Palit hd3870 driver, can i use it with ddr2 memory?

Primo,

A graphics card has it's own Processor and graphics memory.
The Processor is a GPU,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPU

Slang? Graphics chipset.

This means it runs independent of the system resources;
the Processor and Ram Memory on the motherboard.

Means if they come out with a graphics card using GDDR1000, you can still use DDR2 Sdram ram memory.

For additional questions please post in a Comment.
Regards,
joecoolvette

[TIP:

Windows running, install ALL of the graphics card's software.
The drivers, and the user interface;
(ATI? Catalyst Control Center)

It's okay as Windows won't use the software yet.

If you are asked if you want to restart your computer -> NO
Close all windows, go back to the desktop screen.
Turn the computer OFF.

Open the computer case, FOLLOW Anti-Static Precautions.
Remove the monitor cable from the motherboard, or previous graphics card.

Remove the old graphics card IF you were using one.
Install the new graphics card. Plug the monitor cable into it.
Close the computer case. Plug the computer into power.
WAIT 1 minute, turn the computer on.

Why?

Because when a device is installed on a computer, (Device = Graphics card in this case), Windows will 'break it's neck' to find suitable matching drivers.

If THE drivers for the graphics card are not already installed, Windows will match up one of it's THOUSANDS of generic drivers.
This = No.

Will cause a driver conflict.

I have Wolfdale 1333-D667 motherboard which Supports Dual Channel DDR2 667/533 memory. Can i upgrade it with a DDR3 Graphics card?

atlantisshak, you can use a graphics card with ANY graphics ram memory.

A graphics card has it's own Processor, and graphics memory.

Doesn't depend on the system resources, ( Processor and Ram Memory)

GPU = Graphics Processing Unit, the graphics card's processor,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPU

Doesn't matter if you use a graphics card, that has GDDR3, or GDDR4, or GDDR5, graphics ram memory.

I do however, recommend using a PCI Express graphics card based on the 2.0 technology. (PCI Express 2.0), and NOT the PCI Express 2.1 technology.

Could have problems.

{ ALSO;
Make SURE you,
1) Windows running on the computer, install the graphics card's Installation Disk. (CD disk)

AFTER loading the graphics card's 'Control Panel', and drivers,
DO NOT RESTART.

Close all windows, go back to the desktop screen. Shut the computer down normally.

THEN unplug from power, AND follow Anti-Static Precautions.
Physically install the graphics card. Plug the monitor into the graphics card. Close the computer case.

Plug the computer into power. WAIT 1 minute, turn the computer on.

IF you do not, you stand the chance of driver conflict.
To explain;

When a device (Such as this graphics card), is installed on a computer, Windows 'break it's neck' to find suitable, matching drivers.

If THE drivers are not there, Windows will match up one of it's
THOUSANDS of generic, one size fits all, drivers.

This = NO.
Could cause a driver conflict.

Windows: " Which drivers do I use? These or THESE?"

[ If you install the graphics card FIRST, THE drivers are NOT there.
Then you go back, and do install the drivers, there may be a driver conflict ]

Drivers:
Small pieces of software that allow the Operating System to communicate with a device.

Some O/S examples are Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.
The graphics card is an example of a device.

[ When you put the Installation Disk in the optical drive's tray, and close it, the graphics card's software will come up. Go for the option with the 'Control Panel', AND drivers.

Example; For an ATI Radeon graphics card, the 'Control Panel' is ATI Cataylst Control Center ]

NVIDIA GeForce 6200 and Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller

Due to the fact that you are using the Integrated Graphics of the motherboard, by plugging the monitor into the I/O area on the back of the computer; AND cannot use the graphics card when plugged into it;
{Input/Output area}

1) It sounds like you opened the computer, physically installed the graphics card, and plugged the monitor into the graphics card.

IF, the above is correct; OR,

If you physically installed the graphics card, plugged the monitor into the graphics card, and THEN installed the drivers off of an installation CD, or from Nvidia Support;

you have a Driver Conflict.

Explanation;
When a device is installed on a computer, (In this case a graphics card), Windows 'breaks it's neck' to find matching Drivers.

If THE drivers are not there, Windows will match up one of it's Thousands, of generic drivers.

This Will NOT DO. A Driver conflict results;

Windows: "Which drivers do I use?
These or THESE?"

Also;
Drivers for the Nvidia GeForce 6200 graphics card MUST be installed.

Drivers are small pieces of software, that allow the Operating System to 'communicate' with a device.
{Windows XP and Windows 7 are two examples of an O/S}

A) Unplug the computer from power. (Computer off, 'natch)

B) FOLLOW Anti-Static Precautions

C) Remove the graphics card, plug the monitor into the I/O area at the back of the computer.

D) Press the Power On button in, and hold it in for a count of Five seconds. Count '1001, 1002, 1003, 1004, 1005'. Release the Power On button. Do this procedure two more times.

What you are doing is clearing CMOS Error Codes, and resetting BIOS Setup parameters back to the factory default settings.

Leave the cover off, plug the computer back into power.
WAIT 1 minute. Turn the computer on.

When Windows loads install the installation disk, and follow the instructions. (Install the drivers, and the tools), OR

Download AND install the drivers from Nvidia Support,

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-285.58-whql-driver.html

If you need help downloading or installing, post in a Comment. Even if it is something you do not understand.

I downloaded a game and told me that my graphic card needs to be updatedm, how do i update it?

Depending on the exact text of the message, you need to either update the drivers, or you need a newer graphics card. To update the drivers, go to the graphics card manufacturer's website and download/install the latest driver.If the graphics card itself needs to be replaced, you will need to purchase a new graphics card (check the game requirements for the type/make/model card that will work), then install it to your computer. If you already have a graphics card, it's merely a matter of replacing it with the new one and installing the drivers/software that came with it. If it's built in to the motherboard, you will need to install the graphics card, install drivers, then disable the onboard in the bios (check your computer documentation for how to access the bios, typically it will be holding the del key when you see the pc manufacturer's splash screen on boot). If you don't want to get that in depth, most computer stores will do the installation/configuration for you if you purchase the graphics card from them.
