Can't transfer videos from JVC Everio camcorder onto my MAC

Share: How to import .tod files from JVC Everio HDD Camcorder to iMovie?

Requirements: iMovie (Part of the iLife 08 package)

Step 1: Connect the Everio to the Mac (Via USB)
Make sure you are powering the Everio from the mains before connecting your JVC Everio Camcorder.

Step 2: Playback on PC
Select “Playback on PC” on the Everio, once connected you will see the Everio HDD symbol appear on the desktop. The video files on the Everio are stored in the SD Folder/PRG***/MOV***.MOD.

Step 3: Open iMovie
Once you open iMovie, you will see that it recognizes the Everio straight away and will attempt to import your video.

You are now ready to use iMovie to edit your video files.

If need change .tod files to common video formats like mov, mp4, m4v, mpg, mpeg, dv, flv, avi, wmv, 3gp, mkv, mp3, aac, wma, m4a, etc. Mod Tod Video Converter for Mac is a good choice. The program can also convert mod tod to ipod, mod tod to iphone, tod to apple tv, tod to blackberry and more devices!

JVC 3CCD Cam - Playback issue

Probably you Media Player does not support TOD formate.
It is very recent one so you need to look for new softwear.
The solution is easy
Tod file conversion, download the UNLEAD VIDEO STUDIO11.5 with the update other wise he will not work properly http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Ulead_Videostudio

http://www.ulead.co.uk/vs/features.htm
Run the program(ulead) go to Edit and on the right hand side of the screen you see icon of a folder open that and import your file (tod) when it's imported put it on the time line as well.
Now to converter to any kind of format you wish is very easy.
Open share icon right on the top next to audio icon and go to any format you wish to create.
For me I use adobe premier pro I need 720X576 I do this method.
I open in share folder the ---create video file-after I have lot of choose I select ---DV------after Pal (4:3) and I give name and destination all done.
Note:
Please don’t use DV----Pal (16:9) it will stretch the footage to much
When you import the file tod strait from your JVC will help to keep the same quality of your converted file.
Good Luck

Continuous playback of files

me also, ok lets say that i already converted the tod files using powerdierctor express, i have converted already to mpeg, mpg. i have noticed that when i already starts editing my mpg clips, its looks like the video output is not good.

i found a secret or solution, about tod files, powerdirector5 express can't read it or open it right. lol, so funny, JVC budled this cyberlink softwares that can't relly help so much for editing movies, ok, copy first your movie from your hd7 using powercinema to your pc (TOD files). then use nero 9, for editing and fixing your movie it can read the tod files, and can play smoothly, not like powerexpress even do i have converted already the tod files to mpg, not smooth and the video output was not good,

ok thats what i found, the problem is im lacking transitions at nero, wew.

UpDated Firmware for the JVC GZ-HD7U.

There currently are no updates for the camcorder, they discontinued the camcorder shortly after it hit stores.. seemed to have alot of issues.
To the other user with the similar issues. The camcorder isn't the same as a DV camcorder and you may not be able to capture live. My suggestion would be to mount the camera using the USB cable and copying the video files from the camcorders internal hard drive to your desired location.
You may need an application to convert the videos, I suggest MpegStream Clip. They have a version for PC and Mac.
