Self-propelled feature runs slow and won't pull as it should!

Problem is my 6.5 hp. self-propelled Toro moves too slow,ie., it doesn't have enough power from the transmission to move through anything except small grass on the level part of the yard. The motor has been serviced and runs well and the belt is on the pulley underneath. It's front wheel drive and I have removed both front wheels and cleaned their gears. Could the belt be stretched or what's going on here? Thanks!! Larry

Check the belt tension. There is a spring that holds the tension and connects the gearbox to the mower deck. If it has slipped off the belt will not be tightened properly.
Hope this helps.

Move the carpet height control switch to a higher position if the vacuum is difficult to push. If the setting is too low for the carpet being cleaned, the brushes press against the floor preventing the vacuum from moving easily.Set to a medium-high height setting then check.Slide the "Self-Propel" button to the "ON" position if the cleaner does not self-propel. -----------

Self-propelled feature does not work at all! Any suggestions?

You might have a broken belt to the self propelled or a broken spring or whatever engages the self propel. Take off the cover and see if anything is broken or missing. Have someone engage the self propel while you are watching and see what is going on.

My toro self propelled isn't self propelling

It may just be a matter of adjusting the cable. Sometimes they dont get them adjusted just right from the factory, heres what you do. Locate the plastic shroud in front of the push mower that covers the drive unit.Determine which screwdriver or torx bit is needed to remove shroud and remove it. After removal you will see a pulley with belt around it, as you pull the handle back to engage self propel you should see the pulley move into the belt to put tension on the belt. You can do this with it running to see if enough tension is being put on the belt,if not, locate the cable end where the small bracket holds the cable in place. Loosen the cable bracket and move cable until you have correct tension again, hope this helps.

Front ppropelled mower

You dont adjust the belt, you adjust the cable that moves the pulley into the belt. There will be a small single bracket close to the engine side of the mower that holds the cable in place. Simply loosen bracket and move cable until pulley contacts belt enough to engage self propel.

Toro self propelled mower will not move

This is a very simple solution, When you pull the lever it simply pushes a pulley into the belt to make it tight. Most of the time the belt has come off or maybe the cable broke. Turn the mower over and you will see the belt. My money is on the belt off.
