Replaced D820 fan - now laptop doesn't work

I have a Dell D820 laptop. Recently, I tried cleaning out/replacing my internal fan. After I put my computer together, I tried turning it on but after 5 secs it turns right off again. I opened the inside up and noticed the fan also doesn't start up. Please help me solve this problem.
Do I just need a new fan or is there something else wrong with my laptop.? Please help.

Thank you.
Karan

Thank you Joed and Alex. Seeing that the connector is put in correctly, I may have a problem with the fan. Thanks again.

Make sure that the fan connector is seated properly. If it is, then you may be looking at a bad fan.

Dell Studio 1737 with Back lit keyboard but Cap Lock Doesn't Light, replaced Keyboard less than 3 months ago, light worked then and went out just recently.

I'd try a different keyboard and see if the caps light works on that - so you can confirm whether it's the keyboard, or computer.

Latitude d820 screen twitch

Take it to a service shop and ask them to open the unit and the display. The cable connector to the display is loose on one side.

Key fell off

Normally, the solution is to replace the keyboard, they run about $20 on ebay and takes about 15 minutes to change.

Internal wireless card has been disabled. How do you fix this?

Hi car7924,

First, make sure that the wireless switch on the left side of the computer is turned on (this should make the WIFI light go on -- beneath the lower right corner of the screen). If it doesn't work, then try going to Start Menu > Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections > Network Connections.

You should see the Wireless Network Adapter in the window that comes up. If you don't, you need to download the driver for that adapter. The most common adapter in the D820 is the Dell 1390 WLAN MiniCard, and the driver for it can be downloaded at the following web address:

http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/Other-DRIVERS-TOOLS/Others/Dell-Latitude-D530-Wireless-1390-WLAN-MiniCard-Driver-A17.shtml

If, on the other hand, you do see the Wireless Network Adapter, but it says "Disabled" underneath the name, then right-click it and select "Enable." This should make it work.

I hope this helps - please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Kind regards,
H2H

Cannot display anything at all, sounds it is working but, cannot dispaly boot screen and rest???

Try connecting an external monitor to the Dell Latitude D820. If the monitor display is fine, then your laptop’s LCD display panel is defective. If the monitor has no display, then your problem is with either the video card or motherboard located inside your laptop.

Dell latitude d800

The fan kicks in because your processors temperature gets above a threshold, and this usually happens when your computer is under heavy load. And when your computer is under heavy load, the computer will most likely be a little slow. Thus the fan speed can only help your computer; you don't want to change anything there.
I'm a little perplexed about your mouse problem, post back with more details.

My D820 USB ports are not functioning properly

Try reinstalling the drivers for the USB by going to device manager.Just uninstall the usb hub drivers and restart the system.Once you restart it, it will reinstall the drivers on its own.Inacse this does not work you would have to get the ports replaced by getting the motherboard replaced
