My GE Monogram freezer drawer has become iced up and clogged on the bottom several times over the years.  I've always been able to fix it by following the steps in solution#1: turn off, break up & remove all ice & poor hot water down tray drain until water begins to drain efficiently again...  But this time the hot water is not unclogging the drain.  Could anything else be obstructing the drain besides ice?  What next?

The drain is behind the back panel in the freezer at the bottom. Sounds like it is frozen over which is pretty common. Will need to remove panel and thaw out drain by running hot water down. You can use a putty knife to break up ice first. Make sure you get all ice around the drain above and below the thin aluminum tray at the bottom. After the drain is free don't be alarmed if you get some water on the floor because the drain pan may not hold all of the water you ran down the drain. Not anything you can do to prevent this on this model.

Water is freezing in the bottom drawer GEProfile bottom drawer freezer and leaking water on floor

Sounds like your drain tube is blocked in the freezer for the defrost water. The drain tube is in the back left or right corner and will have a drain trough under the cooling coils tilting towards it. That trough will probably have ice built up all over it. Once the ice is out you may need to force hot water down the drain tube. I use to use a turkey baster with a rubber hose on it to force the hot water down the drain tube. Its clear when you put water in the trough top and it goes down the tube freely to the drain pan under the refrigerator.

I have the subzero 632 side by side and there is water dripping from under the bottom drawers onto the bottom of frig and then onto floor. Could that be the rubber gasket stripping on the bottom of the...

Hi,

Behind the crispers and the shelves at the bottom is a drain trough. This drain trough is clogged and would need to be cleared by air pressure. You can use canned air you can seal the opening to keep the pressure in the tube. Once cleared you should be fine.

This happens when food or foreign object get into this trough clog or slow water flow out of the fridge section.

I hope this helps.

GE Profile leaking onto floor

Clean the drain pan and drain line in the back of the freezer section behind the cover underneath the evaporator coil. (hint: use turkey baster with hot water) Make sure water drains when you pour it in. If it doesn't - also clean drain tube on the back of the unit behind the cover. When done - put the tube exactly where it was.
Good luck! :)

Collecting water at bottom of frig inside under drawers.

begin by removing the grill on the front at floor level. look under there and you will see the evaporation pan. next pull the fridge out from the wall so you can get behind it. there you will see the tube. to unclog it you will have to disconnect it at the top and force hot water into it using a turkey baster.

Model # TBX18TRBR large puddling leak on floor, think has to do with defroster messing up?? A GE refrigator serial # HG539639

I've got the same fridge with the same problem (believe it or not it was manufactured in 1992 so it's a wonder it's still working).

I also have been able to narrow the problem down to a defrost issue. It appears as the coils are defrosted, the leaking water drains down through the inside of the fridge, pools in the bottom of the fridge (under the bottom drawers), then when that area is full it runs out onto the floor.

I'm still troubleshooting and will post back here within a week with my results.

I have a GE TOP Freezer Model # TBX21JABLRBB

Turn off the fridge. Remove the rear freezer panel inside the freezer. Take a hair dryer and thaw the ice in the drain trough at the rear of the freezer. After it is clear, pour a 1/4 cup of bleach into the drain hole. Adjust the front leveling legs on the fridge to make the fridge tilt slightly to the rear.

Water in bottom of refrigerator coming from freezer (not really sure of the exact model as I'm not home to double check).

If water appears on the floor in front of the refrigerator once or twice a day, it could be due to a clog in the defrost drain tube. The usual evidence of a clogged drain in a side-by-side refrigerator is ice under the bottom basket in the freezer compartment, in addition to a puddle of water on the floor. Water laying underneath the fruit & vegetable storage drawers

Hi Matt, Hi Dar(lene)?

Super easy fix. Your defrost drain is blocked by what we in the biz affectionately refer to as "Bio-Gookus", so every time the fridge goes into defrost, the newly melted water has no place to go other than the bottom of your fridge. Gravity is what gravity is, ya know?

My bet is that it's clogged up at the drain funnel located in the refrigerator/beer compartment. If I'm remembering right, it should be just to the left of the thermostat/control panel in the back. You should see a plastic cover there, remove it. See the "Bio-Gookus? Kinda gross, huh? All of that has to be cleaned out. Not only in the funnel but the tubing behind it as well.

After cleaning it (and putting the pieces back) your fridge will be happy again.

Hope this helps!

Water leaking - GE Profile Refrigerator, Model: TPX21PRX

Check to see if the drain at the bottom of your freezer is plugged. When the refrigerator goes on defrost, the water has to go somewhere. Look below the coils in the freezer section and see if there is ice in the drain.
