Wrong batteries settings prevents access to menu

I have mistakenly changed the batterie type, for lithium batteries, I don´t have that kind of batteries, and when I turn on the camera, send a batteries exhausted error with my nickel metal batteries. So I can´t go back to the menu to change that wrong setting, turning off and on, the first that displays the camera is that error, so I can't enters the menu. Is there any way to make a hard reset to recover the defaults settings? or to change the batteries type or simulate lithium type batteries justo to enter to menu again? Of course I mean solving the problem without buying that kind of batteries Thanks, a lot and forgive my stupidity
