Unit powers on but belt won't move (motor problem?)

I purchased my Proform 530X treadmill in 2003 and enjoyed it for a little over a year. I had to put it in storage while renovating my home - no room in temporary living space. It was stored for about 10 months. My daughter tried to use it but couldn't get the belt to go slower than full speed. We tried to adjust the speed, turned it off, restarted, etc. Nothing worked. Quite a bit of time has passed and we still have the treadmill - we're debating on getting it repaired. Now it still powers on and the incline works, however the belt doesn't move (it does manually). It seems like it must be the motor. If that is the case, is it reasonable to say that I can replace it myself. I am somewhat handy and can certainly read an instruction manual. Or, is this best left up to the pros? At this point, is it better to just unload this one and buy new? Thanks gentleman, Sue

I have a proform 530x that will run fine for about 40minute @3.5 MPH then belt will stop. If I leave the belt it will come back up to speen until I step back on. Then it stops again.

Removing and reinsertijng the key seems to fix the problem for about 10-15 minutes.

The motor seems to be much louder now. I removed the drive belt and let the motor run freeIy and it remaind nosiy. There does not seem to be any excess play in the bearings but the moter was easy to stop using my the sole of my show with little pressure.

On top of all this it seems to happen about 7 out of 10 times.

Thanks for any help or ideaas you may have.

How do you calibrate a ProForm 530x Treadmill?

To calibrate the speed and/or incline, please refer to the instructions that are under the motor hood cover or are mounted on the inside of the belly pan. Be sure to unplug your machine. If the instructions are not there, please contact our customer service department at {~1-888-533-1333} while you are near your machine.

ProForm 530x Treadmill runs, but stops when I get on to walk/run

Unplug the unit and pull the motor shroud off and check the compartment it like sound you have dirt and corrosion . If you have a multi meter I'd start checking from the outlet and work my way to the lower board to see if I have power, Your question about the motor casing the problem fine the 2 leads that come form the motor and goes to the board pull them off (after unplugging the unit) and stick the leads into the motor connectors put meter on dcv and have somebody get on the treadmill and with one foot start pushing the belt . You should see dcv being generated for the if that the case then the motor by all rights should be good I would suspect that lower board. Hope this sheds a little light on the problem. Good Luck!!

Treadmill will not maintain the correct speed.

You can get a book by calling 1-800-999-3756. The treadmill you are usine in a cheaper model. the motors on those units are not that strong. when you incline your unit gravity make the belt move faster. Remember incline put a lot of pressure on you lower spine. This can cause injury for some.

Proform 10.5 QM treadmill

Your problem is the motor controller. It usually burns out sometime after the 8 year mark if you don't replace the belt routinely. You'd have to replace the belt and the controller. Parts for that would be about $300.
