Sewing machine thread nesting

I was sewing on my Riccar 5100 and it became more noisy the thread was nesting underneath. After rethreading the machine and the bobbin it still continued. I removed the base plate took out the lint and replaced the bobbin case. Still the thread was not being taken up right and nesting. I am not sure if I replaced the bobbin case correctly.

I took the sewing plate off to remove a thread and now I'm not sure I have replaced the plate correctly. How should it go back on and how should it look?

My thread keeps looping on bottom Have changed tension, needle rethreaded and changed bobbin nothing helps what am I doing wrong?

not sure if this will help you...Check Your Tension Settings. Looping underneath the fabric usually occurs when there is not enough tension in the needle thread to pull the bobbin thread. Sometimesthread buching can be caused by something as simple as the tension dial being inadvertently turned.

Janome 6600 top tension too loose... a big wad of thread underneath. I've re threaded, tried a new bobbin, cleaned the machine.

Sounds like thread nesting (or bird nesting).

Remove the top thread from the machine.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Verify the thread path is correct,.
Set the upper thread tension to the midway point and then tweak it for your machine.

I am a new sewer have a Brither BM-2600 what numbers on the dial do I have for just plain stitching I have tried lots of combinations but the cotton underneath is all bunching up and not sewing right

I am not sure as to your machine, are you saying a "brother" machine? If your tension is set, say on 6 and it is too tight, turn the dial one more number......to a 7 or to a five and then check again. Also, I would rethread the machine and also take the bobbin out and then put it back into the machine. A lot of times, the bobbin isn't threaded into the machine correctly and it bunches up. Also, you can't use certain thick thread on some machines.

On rmy riccar sewing machine..After I sew a seam the top stitch seems fine, but underneath the thread is all bunched up in a wad.

increase the needle thread tension
the term is bird nesting and is caused because the needle thread is not pulling the bobbin thread up

When I sew I have thread bunching up underneath the fabric, I've changed needle size, thread, bobbins and cleaned out around the bobbin holder. I'm frustrated and out of ideas.

Susan--
Easy peasy, once you know the problem and how to fix it. It's called "bird nesting" or "thread nesting" or what I refer to as thread "barfs."

Install a brand new needle.
Remove all the thread from the machine.
**ALWAYS RAISE** the presser foot and rethread the top thread.
Verify the top thread path is correct.
Install and thread the bobbin case, make sure it is correct.
Set the top tension to the midway point.

Now retest your machine. Birds nests gone? You may need to tweak the top tension because the factory standard changes due to age and use.

FWIW, problems appearing under the fabric are an issue of the top thread. Thread problems appearing on top of the fabric is a bobbin issue.

What causes Bird Nests Superior Threads

Birds nest under the fabric big loops of thread top side looks good...

When I thread my machine and start sewing my bobbin thread gets a huge nest underneath and knots underneath my fabric. What am I doing wrong?

It is your top threading, totally rethread, then with presser foot up, pull on top thread, it should feed smoothly, now put the presser foot down, pull thread, it should barely move. This should seat the thread in the tension discs.

Monofilament thread nesting up underneath

Mono thread can develop a memory and curl itself around things. I hate the stuff.
