I wish I had a dollar for every time I have heard "All fuses are OK" or "I already checked the fuse" or "I know it's not the fuse"....I'd be a rich man!
When cigarette lighters quit working, 99% of the time the fuse is blown because someting got plugged into it like a defective phone charger. The other 1% of the time, it is because the lighter element is burned out or somebody essed with the wires to the cigarette lighter trying to install some kind of aftermarket equipment.
Humor me and check Fuse #9 (20 Amp) in the passenger side fuse and relay box.
You blew the CIG,RADIO or ACC fuse in the fuse panel, remove and replace with same rated fuse. There is a grounding issue inside the lighter housing from this
It could be the fuse is blown for the lighter socket. If you have something you can plug in to check it (cell phone charger or GPS power cord) try that. What usually happens is the cig lighter itself (the thing you put in the socket and gets hot) shorts out, and blows the fuse.
The cigarette lighter plug should also work for the phone charger as long as the phone charger uses the cigarette lighter style plug(long with two metal contacts on the sides and a button contact on the tip). Most standard car chargers will fit both cigarette and auxillary style plugs.
Some cig lighter plugins are wired directly to battery, others are connected to ignition. You can always re-wire it straight to fuse or radio memory wire (Yellow) on cd deck or (Green/Black) from car wiring
Try checking the fuse inside the charger. Ths may be blown. Have you tried another charger in its place ex. cell phone or radar detector? If works for the cig lighter should charge.
The memory wire of the radio,(the power for the clock and channel settings) is usually connected to the same circuit as the cigarette lighter. (there is a seperate fuse for radio) Check your cigarette lighter socket for damage or dirt, etc. could be causing the memory fuse to blow. Also check your cig lighter accesories (like cell phone chargers, etc.)
P.S. The backlight is also a seperate circuit (connected to interior light/parking light circuit)
The fuse should be beside the accellerator pedal behind a black cover. Should be a yellow 20amp in the middle row, at the end, closest to the front of the car.
