I posted here earlier that I had a Mitsubishi WS-55907 that had just not come on this AM. I pulled everything cover wise off the set and started looking for blown fuses etc, I found nothing until I visited another site where I found a post about the leaking fluid from one of the color guns. I got out my bright mag light and found what looked like a nice clean spot on the center board just under that gun, complete with some little drips. According to the other site, if a guy wanted to he could pull the board (apparently you cant find them anymore) and clean it up-re solder some contacts-replace some fuses-dab some sealant on the leak and maybe the set will work for a while.
I'm really not thinking I could pull that off, I work on my own stuff but this seems out of my skill set. I am not currently working so getting a tech out is not going to happen.
Whats the verdict? should I chuck the set? Over 3 grand that I paid out to the dump (I have had it about 8 years, maybe I'm lucky to have gotten flawless use all this time). Is there an easier/less expensive fix?
Well, give this a shot. That fluid is ethylene-glycol which is water soluable. Pull the board with the fluid stain on it and wash it with water and dry thoroughly with a hair dryer. This works 90% of the time. Then put some kinda plastic sheet up by the leak to prevent it from leaking on the board again.

You answered 2 questions in one there, thank-you very much. I will try the fix, and I was starting to think about just exactly what that stuff was with PCB's being so prolific in electronics at one time. I think the stuff is probably banned anyway.........but you gotta think about stuff like that if your going to work on this stuff.
Thanks for your reply!
