    same problem!

  • Anonymous May 26, 2008

I dont know which setting is which either. Why didnt they use a L or H instead of I or II ?

Its also confusing because II is on the left, and I is on the right, otherwise you would think I was low, and II was high, which it may actually be.

The smartpot programmable crock pot stoneware slow cooker owners guide says the following:

"for other recipes that give a range of times, select the time closest to the setting on your smartpot. for instance a recipe calling for cooking time of 7 to 9 hours on low, set your smartpot to 8 hours."

  • Anonymous Dec 29, 2007

    more from that manual:

"4 or 6 hours for HIGH temp cooking

8-10 hours for LOW temp cooking

I have a Corningware 6 quart oval slow cooker with a broken temperature control knob (4-position switch), also a broken side handle. How can I procure replacement parts?

I have luck sometimes at the Appliance parts store in my city. Check the yellow pages for "Appliances -Supplies and Parts"

Lost label on the front of my rival 37401 slow cooker

The Rival product site has not retained the instruction manual for this model which is a 4 quart model. Nor have I located the manual elsewhere. However, I have located a generic slow cooker manual for 4 to 7 quart models. And, if you google the model number rival and images, you see a picture of the model. The print is terribly small in the images but I have discerned that to the far left is the OFF, each of the three other marks represents an increase in temperature, low, medium, high. If the dial does not "click" you can at least approximate where to turn it from the image. The user feedback reviews would seem to suggest not leaving it on high for prolonged periods and to be careful with the lid least you break it. Here are a few links which may be helpful:

Rival 38651-C 6 Quart

once the slow cooker reaches a temperature set point it shuts off. when the internal temperature drops the thermostat turns on again, otherwise even at a low heat, everything inside would boil away. Hence the term "slow cooker."
