I have a jacuzzi J340 spa that is coming up with an error code of --- I have found that this is a self protect mode after detecting a potential problem. The system will start and run anywhere from 30 seconds to two minutes. There may have been an instance when it was over chlorinated due to a heavy shock in an attempt to resolve a white mold issue. Would that cause this type of error message and is there a simple reset or sensor replacement that can be done by a HarryHomeowner type?
It sounds like a may have a faulty pressure sensor. What I suggest is to verify all small wire plugs "push them in" and also make sure all gate valve are still opened.sometimes they may close by themselves if the tubes that keep then open fell off. Also, some of these units have multiple pump and u may have burned a few in the primary pump.
Good lyck

The condition you see on the topside control is known as "watchdog" Which usually means that the spa thinks it's "overheating"
Turn off the power to the spa for a couple of minutes, then restart, Watch the topside control if the temp. starts to climb & read a lot hotter than the actual water temp. Then it goes into watchdog, most likely you have a bad temp sensor. In some cases just resetting the spa will clear the watchdog & everything works fine. (Voltage fluctuations, "spikes" can freak out the electronics & the tub goes into watchdog to protect itself) If the spa immediately goes into watchdog when you reset it, you might have a bad board. (Let's pray it's not) 90% of the time it's a bad temp. sensor.

You need to replace the temperature sensor. As per the problem mentioned,it indicates towards faulty temperature sensor:---The temp sensor found in the filter compartment.--------- There is a 2 foot flexable tube that the wire runs through from the sensor which just ends inside the cabinet. The wire for the sensor should be in a flex pipe. The flex pipe just connects up to the back of the temp sensor. You should be able to pull that flex pipe back, it may be held on only by the foam insulation and not glued to the sensor nut. Once you pull back the flex you should expose the back side of the sensor. There will be a nut holding the sensor to the wall of the spa. The front of the sensor will either be located in the filter bucket or in the foot-well area on the side of the wall. ------------ This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.
SOURCE: Hi. I am having trouble
i would certainly change the sensor before checking anything else.
heat, vibration and moisture can all affect the sensors on these units.
it is possible that the control board has developed a fault, but the sensor has to be the first thing to do.
fortunately they are usually fairly cheap, and most just pull out and insert the new sensor.
please feel free to ask again if a new sensor does not sort the problem.
hope this helps.
