Blue screen and lens error

All of a sudden my camera stopped working. Whenever I try to turn it on, the camera makes a grinding sound while the lens goes in and out and the screen shows a blurry image. After struggling a bit the lens closes and a blue screen appears with the writing: D : 5f08 5e02. The same thing happens when I try to turn the camera off, except the blurry picture doesn't appear. Is there anything I can do short of sending in the camera for repair? I know the lens is fine because sometimes it shows a clear image before blurring out. I tried using the camera without a memory card and I tried formatting the memory card and the built-in memory. I also tried toggling with the power button and opening and closing the memory card. Nothing has worked so far, but to delay the inevitable for a picture or two. Please please help me, I'm going to be at the Grand Canyon tomorrow and would love a working camera!

Lens error

There is a mechanical displacement. Lens has been shifted to side. That grinding sounds come because motor pushes lens to retract but something is stopping lens's way.......
So get it serviced. Don't turn it on or off, It increases pressure on motor.....

Says lens error!!!!!

The best solution is to take it to Best Buy and have them look at it. The Kodak camera could still be under warranty.

Camera lens stuck

See my other posts, which may be able to help in this case.
You may...may... be able to force the lens back into the track. The noise in this case sounds like it is off track....worth a try indeed.
The other can be that the gears are broken, and will have to be repaired or replaced.

E18 error pops up and to make it worse the screen is green and its making a lot of beeps

The better solution is to send it to Canon's service people.  They can fix he problem is the fixes at the above site won't work.

Canon SD900

First off, see if Canon can help you. If not, the following blog outlines some repair options for a lens error. They won't work for all cases, but they're worth a try: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Stuck Camera Lens

You could try the Casio Tech Support team, but if as you suspet it is a matter of dirt- there is nothing to be done except replace the camera- the cost os shippin and examining the camera etc. will come close to its replacement.
