SOURCE: Ais and 1920c Furuno chart plotter

n the system setup, under “UNITS” I set BEARING to “MAG” (magnetic). This will cause the unit to display course / bearing information in relation to the Magnetic North and match magnetic compass readings. It is not the same as True North! One has to be careful with this setting. There are a number of areas where the earth's magnetic field is locally disturbed, sometimes very significantly. Your GPS may not account for it. - again, under “UNITS” I set “METRIC”.

I have a fa50 and no longer have a relation ship with the Furuno dealer. How can id get the login name and password, is there a master reset to factory default and a setup username and password?

The following web page is the manual for your device: l
http://www.furunousa.com/ProductDocuments/FA50%20Operator's%20Manual%20B%20%207-08-09.pdf
On page 26 you will see the instructions for the password. Please note that the password is known only by the dealer, so you will have to get it from them. I could find no reference to a resetting of the password, and this appears to be a security precaution established by the manufacturer.
You will have to get the password from the dealer.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

While installing a Kelvin Hughes Radar on my vessel, the Kelvin Hughes Rep stated that our Furuno GP 90 needed an upgrade to it's firmware. This was causing a frequent rejection of the data by our ECDIS...

this must be done by an autherised Furuno representivie (agent or service engineer)

The cost of this visit will nearly be the cost of a new unit, speak to the kelvin hughes rep and do a deal on a new 2010 compliant IMO GPS.

My ais targets are out of line showing them out of the river

If the AIS targets are out compared with radar target then turn compass to superimpose radar on to AIS.
If the AIS info is out compared with chart then suspect GPS. This could be yours or theirs depending on how many targets are out and whether it consistantly in one direction.
Good luck
Mike
