The crossramp and resistance buttons do not work on a precor efx 5.23

We are FIXYA dot com. We are not Precor and we certainly don't take credit card numbers. By 'charging bat', you mean battery for the display. The battery is mentioned 67 times in the manual. Press CTRL+F and type in 'battery'. Page 39 and 40, looks to be what you need.

bar soap on the ramps where the wheels travel until the shine wears off the wheels. I see it at warranty calls every week

I would definitely check the battery first. The battery may not have enough charge to power everything plus the lift motor.

Drill it down on the left side under "narrow your search" and look for the serial number prefix. This will let you find all the correct parts and information specific to your model and serial number.

This could be caused by either a bad lower electronic board or the brake/generator. Assuming the buttons are working, the numbers change on the display, and the incline works, it may be the lower circuit board or the generator. If it is a very old unit, it may be the electromagnet or the data cable that connects the two circuit boards.

1. Sounds like you need a new keypad if some buttons do not work. 2. If those buttons do not work either, it sounds like you need a new keypad, possibly the upper board. Make sure the keypad is plugged into the upper board and the connection is not corroded. 3. Older 546s used an electromagnet to produce resistance, newer 546s use a generator and resistor to produce resistance. I have never seen a 546 that used a motor that moves back and forth to produce resistance. Some residential crosstrainers use a motor like you describe.
