The laser is failing. Just like in a record player there is a tracking gain adjustment inside but it is very touchy to move it. If anything is adjusted inside it may never work again. Perhaps resoldering some of those potentiometers, and perhaps other spots on the board may fix this. If the laser fails it is done.

I am trying to connect my Bose Wave Radio to my Yamaha RX S 70 receiver so that I can listen to the radio through my speakers. Right now the speakers are connected to the Yamaha...but radio isn't playing...

There's actually 2 ways of doing this.

Using the variable out connections on the Bose, connect your L&R channels to the desired input, I recommend the auxillary, on your Yamaha and select that input. Turn the volume all the way down on your Yamaha. Turn the volume on your Bose all the way up; then readjust the volume as desired on your Yamaha.

Optional connection; the headphone jack. Connect a 3.5mm mini to stereo plug cable from the Bose to Yamaha in the manner described as above and use the volume control approximately the same way.

My bose mini soundlink has a static sound which has started to occur after it is playoing for several minutes

The reason mine crackled seems to be because it was on very high volume (on the speaker) but my computer was on low volume. Hope this helps,

Bose Cinemate Sr1 volume keeps auto turning off when not in use

Hi, All. First, thank you for suggestions posted. Next, I have unplugged both the subwoofer and the center channel speaker, left them unplugged for a minute or two, then re-plugged them in. However this did not correct the problem for me. When I pause the television for five or 10 minutes for example, the Bose volume automatically shuts off. This is a major inconvenience. I suppose if nobody can address this issue with the remedy here, I shall have to call Bose and see if they can assist. Any other ideas or suggestions? Meanwhile thank you very much.

Bose Companion 3 Speakers make a popping noise.

No solution i'm afraid. But i have the exact same problem. Terrible cracking interference. Unplug everything else in the house and they still crackle. Very annoying. Decided to buy a new woofer on ebay as that seemed to be the problem with possible faulty switch, but the new woofer has a different connection for the volume control. Incredibly frustrating. If you have any luck let me know. Bose want eighty quid to repair...

My bose speakers each have diffrent sound levels, the left speaker is louder than the left one, i can correct the problem by going to "speaker properties" and decreaseing the volume of the left...

try swapping the speakers around if the problem still persists either the speaker is faulty or
the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good
or you might have to clean the dust from your computer dust causes static which causes your computer to overheat and all sorts of problems
be sure to wear an anti static earth strap before touching anything inside your computer

have you tried this control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select the appropriate speakers from the drop down list or click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to system devices + to expand, system speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable)

hope this helps

Pioneer vsx 1020 K receiver. I connected the bose 901 eq to the tape in and tape out but it doesn.t seem to be compatible.

It would be compatible if you ONLY listened to stereo ANALOG sources on ONLY Bose 901's. Engaging any device in a tape loop automatically disconnects digital sources. Bose Active EQ is not intended for anything BUT Bose 901's. The sub could be destroyed by it.

Lacking appropriate Front Left and Right volume-controllable pre-outs on the 1020k, you can't use the 901's for multichannel or digital source material unless you accept a severe compromise and get a separate amp for the 901's borrow mixed-down stereo from the Pioneer's Tape Out, run it through the Active EQ to the new amp and manually manage the external amp's volume.

You need Front Pre-outs.

I have Bose Companion 2 Series ones and the left makes odd noises

> I turn the volume to a low it still has the odd noise
If there is any drive to the speaker at all (volume not turned off), the rattle is probably coming from a broken 'surround;' the part that keeps the cone centered around the outer edge.
Another point of failure is a structure called a 'spider' that is located between the voice coil and cone that ensures the voice coil stays centered.
If there is hum with the volume turned completely down, the amplifier driving the speakers (internal or external) has a failing filter in the power supply.
