Hiya Inga Your friend is right updating your drivers on your computer helps to keep it running at optimum level and is usually the first step taken when troubleshooting a computer. If you have never installed drivers it can be a bit intimidating, but if you have ever downloaded any programs like adobe and installed it you can update your drivers.
Since you did not say which operating system you currently use I am assuming it is Windows.
The first thing you must do before you do anything else is backup all essential info on your computer.
You will also want to set a restore point dated for today just in case something does go exactly as planned you can restore it back to what it was using this neat application. You can find this windows feature by going to start - all programs - accessories - system tools - system restore. You will be given the option of restoring to an earlier point or create a restore point. Select create a restore point. The program walks you through what you need to do so it is very easy.
Next you need to download the latest drivers for you laptop. It is usually best to go back to the manufacture to get the latest updated drivers. You have a better chance of not downloading viruses or unwanted programs. Select the operating system your using and the latest updates for your drivers. I believe this link will take you to the page you need.

http://driversdownloadupdate.com/w763s-proline/

A good policy to have is to always run a virus scan before installing anything. You never know were you might pick up a nasty virus so best to be safe.

Now that you have your drivers I would go to this site
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/f/driverupdate.htm to learn how to install the drivers correctly. It explains all you need to know in detail for someone who has never done it before for each operating system. Let us know how it goes or if you need more help.
Good luck

Hi there, Hi there, Hi there,

I found the driver for your Laptop.I found the driver for your Laptop.I found the driver for your Laptop.

You will have to download the following file by clicking here

Wait until the driver is downloaded to your computer and use a USB flash drive to transfer it to your Laptop.

Once you've done that, double click the file to open it, you'll be presented with a folder called "wifi". double click to open it and you'll be presented with a list of files.

Look for Setup.exe among them and double click it to execute it.
You might be asked to unzip the file. Follow the directions in the screen and you'll have your wifi working once the installation is complete.

If your laptop wouldn't connect after installing the driver, try restarting your system.

If restarting your system doesn't help, let me know and I'll try to help further.

Good luck.

SOURCE: where to download wireless for acer travelmate 2428

Hello,
There are several sites that you can visit to get your wireless driver. You can go to your manufacturer's website and go to support and drivers. These are also some alternative websites: 'notebook.driversdown.com', 'notebooksdrivers.com', 'laptop-notebooks-drivers.com'. You would select your brand and model number.

All the best.

What were the network adaptors that came from the factory for the acer aspire 5810tz I think alheros ar5b91 wireless na. The laptop shorted out when I tried to install memory and had to install factory...

Go to friend or your local public library and connect to the internet and to acer by typing www.acer.com. Click on USA radial button and click on service and support then driver download. You will be asked to select the model number of your computer and you can download all the drivers you need for it. If you download your network/wireless adapter drivers first to a flash drive you can install them on your computer, connect to the internet, and download whatever drivers you still need. Good Luck!

I have a acer laptop and lost wireless connection, please help.

Hi Blackett..

First, we need to identify the problem, it can be either with your laptop or with your Wireless router or with your Internet service provider.

so, first Step 1. please check whether you have "switched ON" the wireless on your acer laptop or not.(there may be a On /OFF switch on the laptop itself)
Step2. check weather you are able to connect to internet with wires or not?
(which means that you need to bypass your wireless router and directly connect the cable to your acer laptop)
If you are able to connect to internet through wires but not wirelessly then follow the rest of the steps..
Step 3. check whether your wireless is connected in the correct fashion or not... for that view the 2 videos which i have attached in this solution.
Step4. if the above steps do not work then it could be that your laptop or it's driver configuration are not OK.
you can then insert the "DRIVER" disk which came with your laptop and install the wireless driver again.

Here are the Videos....

If still issue is unresolved then please ask me again, i'll be ready to help.

Good Luck ;-)

Hi. I think what you have remove on your laptop is the driver for your broadband connection, the best way to solve your problem is to contact your Internet Service Provide to ask for the drivers or you could download it yourself over the internet. Just go to the manufacturers website for your machine and go to the tech support or driver support are and download the latest driver for the wireless and Local Area Connection and install it your computer. Hope this helps

Have re-installed win xp on an IBM T42 laptop, but can not access the internet to update drivers ect

1. if you have wireless, purchase or borrow an add on usb wireless stick. this will allow you to access the internet and add in your missing drivers. 2. or add in a pci card that has ethernet connection to get your drivers. 3. use someone elses computer and download the drivers from the IBM site, put them on a usb stick and then apply them to your unit, (ie more the ethernet driver as a primary and then you can download the remaining ones as you go after it is working. hope this helps.

Can I use a wireless router with motorola phone tools. What I want to do is to connect phone tools on a desktop and then add a wireless router (USB) so I can get wireless internet on my laptop.

Your question is somewhat confusing.

For clarification, there are two questions that you could be asking.

The first question would be: Can your phone be 'Tethered' to your laptop with either a Data Cable or Bluetooth to have internet on your laptop by using your phone as a modem? (No wireless router is needed to do this.)

The second question would be, that you have an internet connection on your desktop computer and want to use a wireless router to have internet on your laptop via WiFi. (In this case, your cell phone would not be needed.)

If the first question is what you are asking, to use your cell phone as a modem to provide internet access to your laptop - then the answer is, Yes. This is what you will need:

1) You'll need a Data Plan added to your regular cell phone service account.

2) To tether your laptop to your phone, your laptop will need to have either Bluetooth installed or you will need a USB Data cable.

Tip: If your laptop does not have Bluetooth installed, you can purchase any USB Bluetooth Doggle (on eBay for a couple of dollars) and plug it into one of the USB ports on your computer. Once plugged in, the doggle will automatically download the Bluetooth drivers to your laptop. Otherwise, you can use a USB Data cable to tether your phone to your laptop.

Note: Depending on the model number of your Motorola phone you may have to download the Data Cable Drivers onto your laptop.

If your phone is not one of the following phones then you can use Motorola Phone Tools. (Motorola OS, Motorola Linux OS, Motorola iDEN, Motorola Symbian/UIQ, Motorola Windows Mobile and Motorola i-mode Handsets. )

If you need the Motorola Phone tools (if your Motorola Phone Model was NOT one of the models I listed above)
Just click here::
http://bit.ly/1TN7A6

If your phone model is a (Motorola OS, Motorola Linux OS, Motorola iDEN, Motorola Symbian/UIQ, Motorola Windows Mobile or Motorola i-mode Handsets), you'll need to download the drivers for the Data Cable and install them on your laptop.
Since you did not include which cellular provider you use, I cannot provide you with the information to manually set up your cellular internet connection.

Now, if the second question is the one you are asking, that you have internet on your desktop and want to use a wireless router to get internet on your laptop, here's what you'll need:

1) Connect a wireless router to your desktop.
2) Your laptop should have a small WiFi switch or button on the front or side of your laptop. This will need to be turned 'ON". (See your owners manual for your laptop to do this.)

If your laptop has WiFi installed, on your laptop go to START > (Look on the right side of the menu box and click on: 'Connect to' -- If you don't see, 'Connect to' in the menu you'll have to purchase a USB WiFi adapter. A good one is a D-Link DWL-G132 and can be purchased on eBay for about $10. Install the drivers for it first before plugging it in to your computer.
Click here to download the DWL-G132 drivers:
ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Wireless/dwlg132/Driver/dwlG132_drivers_130.zip

Once you download the drivers and plug in the DWL-G132 into one of your laptop's USB ports then click, START > Connect to > and select your wireless router.

Installing wireless modem

To download the most appropriate modem driver for your Windows XP computer, a few steps is indispensible to finish the whole process.

Step 1
Look at the modem. Write down the make and model. If you have a dial-up modem in your computer, take the panel on the tower off. Shine the flashlight on the device. On the circuit board, the manufacturer and/or model number is present.

Step 2
Locate an Internet connection. To download Windows XP modem drivers, go to the library or someone's home where the Internet is able to connect. If you have another working modem in your house, you can download them directly to your computer.

Step 3
Go to the manufacturer's official website or a Windows XP modem driver's web page. Windows XP Drivers, Drivers Kit and Driver Support Registry have modem drivers for the Windows XP operating system.

Step 4
Click on the modem device. Select the manufacturer of the modem. Some of the driver sites are XP only, while others are all drivers. You will have the chance to choose your operating system before downloading. Click on the "Download" tab. Wait approximately 10 minutes, depending on the speed of the PC and Internet connection.

Step 5
Burn it to a disk. If you are at another location, you need to burn to CD/DVD for transportation.
