KitchenAid K5A: Mixer Bowl Movement Issue
When engaged, KitchenAid K5A mixer bowl rocks back & forth. Stated differently, when engaged, the bottom of the bowl swings towards the back of the mixer stand then reverses its stated path rapidly but it does not swing side to side. What is causing this rocking motion & how is it fixed? Thanx, lulow
This may be explained with the bowl assembly. Being a bowl lift mixer, please follow the following steps to make sure the bowl is being secured before mixing:
There are the bowl-holding arms on the left and right hand side of the mixer. You will place the bowl on these arms, securing it onto the pegs.
Also, take your fingertips and press down firmly at the back of the bowl where it is resting against the base. You will hear an audible click as the bowl secures down into a spring latch mechanism on the stand mixer base, allowing the mixing bowl to sit flush and secure.
Do we have the correct bowl and beater in use?

hello step ..... yes. You may have to adjust the height of the bowl a wee bit as it sounds like the dough hook is hitting the side of the bowl..
It tells the steps in your manual.
Easy to do.
If you don't have the manual you can download it for free here http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search.jsp?siteCd=KAD

I'm not sure I'm following you. Does the bowl spin or is it locked tight in the base? If the base moves independent of the head then I think that the the head connecting to the base
shaft needs tightening. Put the mixer on it's side. Look up inside the
base and you'll see a small set screw.
With a flat blade screw driver tighten that screw and it should stop
moving. If it doesn't you probably need another shaft because it's
worn.
When you say bowl are you referring to the stainless steel bowl make sue it is locked in place push down on the pak of the bowl until it snaps in. If you referring to the stand tighten the screws.
Push down on the back of the bowl
