I would recommend changing the diodes as well. This will usually take care of the problem.

HI, this is an indication of a failed door switch. When the switch fails, the control cannot recognize the closed door signal. Simply replacing the door latch mechanism will solve this issue.

Replace the door latch assembly, asap.

Something is burning, there are high voltage parts in a microwave oven and they wear out. You probably need a new diode. Part number WPW10492276 google it

Buzzing sound when you turn on .also smells like burning

The magnetron is failing, "heats food" and in some cases gives off a burning smell, "classic symptom" repairs will run close to a new microwave oven or more.

This indicates the magnetron has failed, buzzing sound and odor are classic symptoms. It is cheaper to replace than have it repaired.

This is most likely a defective magnetron, especially with the burning smell. There are two other parts that can be a problem, the high voltage capacitor and diode, all three work together to heat food. If the magnetron is the culprit, probably cheaper to replace the microwave oven.

Panasonic Microwave NN-C980-B buzzing noise but it still works.

All:
I have a 2003 Sears Ultra Wave microwave 721.63682300 with a similar problem. A few months ago it started giving off short buzzes when turned on. That stopped but then I noticed that everything took twice as long to heat up. After quite a bit of teardown&inspection I found a circuit break in the inverter board leading to ZD704 diode (pictured). I will now try to find a replacement diode to see if replacing will fix it. Advantium 120 makes low buzzing sound all the time

this is the transformer that is doing it and it may end up failing soon , and should be replaced before any other dammage is done,
